Weaver/Mijangos NBA

I seem to recall reading an article ages ago written by the promotor of the show this fight was on. Due to a disagreement over the fee, the NBA ended up not sanctioning it. I think I came across the article because the promotors decided to set up a whole new title in order to fill the gap left by the NBA.

Obviously this matter is of pressing importance and I am sure all editors and contacts will get onto the case immediately. On the slim offchance alterations are not forthcoming I'll try to dig out the article when I get home.

The Weaver-Mijangos fight was supposed to be for the NBA title but apparently there was a dispute about sanctioning fees. The promoter hastily created a new sanctioning body 'The International Boxing Authority' and the contest was for their 'world' title. Here is a link to a story about the incident:

There is also some doubt whether the NBA title was at stake in the 21.6.1995 Weaver-O'Mara contest.
If you do come across reports of the fights I would be very interested to know more about them - also the names of the referees.
