He's a solid prospect. I like his style and he has good technique. He should be allowed to get the experience that he needs without too much pressure initially from promoter, family and journalists; he's a baby in terms of age and experience. I hope he goes all the way, he comes across really well in interviews.

Fury's got a lot of potential, ABA Super Heavyweight champ and two stoppage wins out of two as a proffesional. But as many people say you wont know how good he is untill he faces a really decent fighter and as his career goes on.

He's going to get plenty of learning fights and if he gets good minor European heavyweights like Zeller coming up he will learn a lot. Zeller had a decent record, I know he didnt beat good guys but his KO record was fantastic.

Fury is massive, he's a decent boxer but at the moment talk of World championships is way premature.

He looks about as good as Tye Fields.

Another 'timber' moment waiting to happen.

Has there ever been a good co-ordinated heavy over 6'5''? Really . . .?

And out box Spinks! :o

On another note, people are always going on how tough Gypsies are and they fight bareknuckle. Well i have watched it 1st hand and seen the supposedly best Jaws Ward and let me just say that they are f#cking useless and its laughable, its so lame. Dan Rooney the supposed hardest of the lot a few years back is big but is a shit fighter same with Aney McGinely, its a joke. I cannot comment on bartley Gorman though, he always seemed much better the the others from the videos i've seen.
I seen that fight too, it was a big let down, esp after all the build up given in the tape I had

Hmm, not sure about your claims of seeing these fighters. Are you referencing some of the crap videos that do the rounds? Many of which do not do the top bare knuckle fighters justice. Classic example being Gorman. Did you actually see him fight? Are you saying you saw him on vids, cos as far as I am aware none of his fights were recorded. As for Rooney and McGinley, get the feeling you may have seen that awful recording of their fight, which really shows you nothing - you cannot even see who wins cos of the crowd. Likewise, they do not necessarily reflect those fighters that take bare knuckle seriously i.e. keeping super fit, good training.

Tyson's father, John, was supposedly one of the best bare knuckle fighters of his time and interestingly he did prove that he was handful within boxing - clearly not the best boxer there has ever been, but taking into account he was competant, imagine how much damage the bloke could do without gloves. Point is that people should not judge all travellers or indeed all bare knuckle fighters from some of the crappy amatuer fights put on you tube and sold on the net. Heard rumours that Wharton has done some bare knuckle in his time, if so, I could imagine he would be pretty formidable considering his achievements in boxing; the belts he won and the fact he went all the way with three world champs, doing himself most proud with his performance against Benn.

I think the lad is a good prospect, he himself is only setting his sights on a british title, which is a reasonable goal. If anything, those jumping the gun are those saying he cannot achieve anything after just seeing two pro fights, in which there were a lot of positives. Vitali showed that a tall fighter can achieve success, with his achievements at world level and an outstanding KO ratio.

As with all heavyweights it comes down to to the chin, if Fury can take a whack , then he stands a chance of doing something.
For a very young heavy , he has looked good after a couple of fights, i've also liked the look of Larry Olubamiwo and he's had the same number of fights.

Clearly at this stage there are going to be many unanswered questions but I like the way he mixes his shots. I am always put off by a fighter that looks out of condition - I'm of the view that fighters should be athletes all year round and should never be too much above their fighting weight (a view I heard personally expressed by Richie Woodhall recently).

The talk of outclassing a prime Foreman is nonsense and doesn't do anybody any favours, although having said that it is understandable that his dad would have high hopes for him. I am just always reminded of Mathew 'First Billion Dollar Athlete Would Beat Tyson Tomorrow' Ellis.

The final comment I made is no dig at Ellis himself (who may be a top bloke, I don't know) but at his promoter.

Would be interesting to see him fight Henry Akinwande. His dad fought him many years ago and he is still active at 43.

Is Hennessy getting carried away.
Looks like they are giving him a fight a month with Febuary and March penciled in. Will be good to get that ring stamina in.

Hennessy knows he has a marketable fighter for a change and is milking it. He has had world class fighters before, but none that could appeal to Joe Public.

"imagine how much damage the bloke could do without gloves"

To his own hands. Gloves protect the hands more than anything else, Fist.

The stories of all time greats taking to the cobbles instead of going it in the ring are always sprinkled with a touch of fantasy.
If you were that talented, why wouldn't you give it a go in the ring and earn far more money, fame and honour than you ever would on the cobbles!
I liken it to Sunday Morning Footballers(some are quite good)who always bang on about how good they are and they could have made it etc...

As for Wharton, I can imagine he would have been able to destroy any traveller or unlicensed fighter in Britain when in his pomp, but I suspect he had far bigger things to worry about(like fighting pro World Champions in the Ring on TV) :TU:

He looks good but surely the debating should take place a few fights down the line. Talking about titles by either the fighter or the fans is pure nonesense at this stage. Tyson admits his stamina needs a lot of improvement and when thats sorted and he works on his skills and gets tested a few times, thats when we can decide if hes likely to make it big in the sport.

Give the guy a chance, after 2 fights its hard to judge wether he will be a good heavyweight or not.

im sure we've seen better prospects at this stage of their careers, such as Herbie hibe and Bruno. Give him a few more and lets see him face Fraudly and knock that bum out. We are living in a different era for boxing now and im sure we will not see another 'hot' prospect in this country for some years to come, but if Fury can keep moving forward and racking up the wins im sure we will support him.

Give him a chance, but it's his promoter who is putting the ridiculous pressure on him and trying to whip up a media storm.

Next outing on the Thaxton bill in Norwich. Calling out Sam Sexton with some provocative words.

Are they suggesting he is going to fight Sam Sexton on the bill? Surely not. Or is this the age old Hennessy tactic (see Witter/Hatton, Froch/Calzaghe) of just attaching a boxer's name to a bigger name in the hope of piggybacking some publicity.
