KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
Its evident from this fight what would happen if Murray met Khan.
Khan w ko 5

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
Not particularly - Murray was open in round 2, but probably because he could be given Lawton's lack of power. Khan has been dropped by bigger shots than what Murray took in round 2. 2 totally different styles and you just cannot know how they will mesh.
Fights with lanky guys like Lawton and McAllister are decent preparation to fighting Khan. Khan has struggled mightily under pressure, v an ancient Gomez. Murray has ground down rangy fighters, not immediately but gradually and confidently.
Murray would get a good strategy to fight Khan, would use body shots. Khan starts fast, blows a bit mid fight. So if Murray could land heavy body shots, he can sap him and - you never know - grind him down.

Khan v Murray is a fantastic fight - sorry but I have to disagree that fight is no mismatch.

Sorry mismatch was an insult to Murray.

Hey mate I agree - Murray would have massive problems sorting out Khan's handspeed - however you have also got to say Khan is not so good on the back foot and you can be certain he would have to fight the large majority of the early rounds trying to handle Murray's onslaught.Wrists wrote:Sorry mismatch was an insult to Murray.

For me its a very interesting fight indeed - and I have to go for Murray solely down to my doubts about Khan being able to handle pressure - he is an "on top" fighter - the moment he cannot get things his own way he unravels in my view.

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
Murray would KO Khan IMO, i feel that there is to much pressure from Murray for Khan to take, plus Murray doesn't just throw single shots, he throws combinations . And he can punch
Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
For me Khan would cut Murray to pieces.
Best all british fight out there - get in on

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
Khan has pretty much got a world title fight a weight above, and will likely get obliterated by the power punching top contender Ortiz/Maidana winner. And then bounce back, never short of opportunities.
Murray probably not on his radar. I'd think Murray v Mitchell would be a better fight as both are aggressive, we know Mitchell is easy to hit/durable. This is the potential classic of sustained action. Murray-Arthur - good domestic, probably good for some kind of world rating, too.
Khan has just reached the mature part of his career. Before he was a nutter who just rushed ppl with exceptional speed. Now he is settling down, which is good. He had about 3 rds of it v Fagan, about 4 v Barrera. I'd like to see if Amir can box a consistent fight over a long distance.
Murray - despite frustrated layoffs - has reached a consistent form, chopping down Meager, McAllister & Lawton. He doesn't have Khan's world rating, hasn't been matched as cannily. BUT, he is one of the best British champs I've seen in years. He may not have the British title, but that was another championship level performance & I particularly liked his bursts of fast shots to get round Lawton's guard.

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
Khan does not carry a KO punch and on recent evidence Murray would ship a few early doors maybe taking a count but would eventually walk Khan down stopping him inside 8.
Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
who knows how the will adapt to each other's styles. i get the feeling 12 potential rounds v murray will feel like an awful long time. though i think murray would need all his mental strength, poise and concentration to get through what would undoubtledly be difficult early rounds.
Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
It's no mismatch at all, if Murray lands a bomb Khan will be gone, absolutely gone out cold. If Khan can keep it in and out an duse his hand speed then he can get to Murray. It;s a great fight and a great clash of styles but I don't think Warren will let Khan anywhere near Murray unless it was for a world belt and a shedload of money.

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
murray is a classic example of an all-round kind of fighter who would always dominate the domestic scene but just doesn't have the tools or the physical advantages to conquer world-class guys.
Khan, to actually give him credit (it's overdue from me) has a couple of world class tools (handspeed, shotmaking), BUT those two advantages, devoid of any others, do not a champion make.
Don't understand at all how Khan can be 'Murray's worst nightmare' when it would be Murray who would be pressing forward and landing shots...

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
I remember when Haye and Froch weren't going to be world class.
Right now, Murray's doing some impressive things at domestic level. Lawton was actually coming off good wins, looks to have physically matured, and Murray broke him down impressively. It's possible he improves with the level he's at.
Remember when Murray only had 50% stoppage ratio, no one really thught he could hit, but once he settled into championship level, had more notice and was able to study opponents he's been thrashing some decent fighters.
At British level he isn't really putting a foot wrong - the weigh in aside - so let's judge him by the steps up he has and how he handles it. Thaxton is former EBU champ, could be considered European class, so let's see what he does in European class v the likes of Thaxton, Mezaache, Kudriavtsev.
Khan's got his world title fight for doing nothing world class, for having the right promoter, if he won he was probably going to dump the belt to avoid Ortiz or Maidana. This is "fringing" your way to a title, acting like something your not, having the sneaky way to the top, trying to fool ppl (his "world class W over St Clair not so great after FEAHERWEIGHT Jackson Asiku KO'd him!)...So I can see why ppl would have a go saying "he's not world class". Can't we wait and see until Murray is manouevred, who he fights, and how he handles it, before writing him off?

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
Murray does have excellent physical strength and applies some very solid, educated pressure. These qualities are taking Jamie Moore up to world class, and I can't think of any other Brits who can apply this withering kind of pressure fighting, than Moore and Murray.Riddick Blowe wrote:murray is a classic example of an all-round kind of fighter who would always dominate the domestic scene but just doesn't have the tools or the physical advantages to conquer world-class guys.

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
That type of 'getting in the trenches' style which takes away all physical advantages is a tough one to get right at world level. It's the reason Juan Diaz couldn't make the final step - and Diaz does everything better than Murray. Those attributes you need, grit, cumulative power, unquestionable heart, Murray looks like he has them all, but does he have them to a high enough standard?
I think Moore is a slightly different proposition, not being quite the same type of fighter. There are more things about Moore that can make him effective at the top level, he's more economical almost with his shots, he fights at mid range rather than close up, plus he is a southpaw which helps. Out of them both, Murray will be getting into more out-and-out wars and he'll be called upon time and again to show up with more guts in order to win. Without a bingo punch, that's going to find him out at world level. In my opinion.

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
i'd be confident of backing murray if HE MOVED HIS FUCKIN HEAD!!!!! but as he doesnt eva, Khan to cut him up but not hurt him
Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
No-one is writing off Murray - I am certainly not.
I just think stylistically Khan would do a number on him, I could be wrong and Murray could simply walk Khan down, however it took him 8 rounds to do that to McAllister and 6 rounds for Lawton.
Both McAllister and Lawton are poor men's Khans if you like in that they are tall, rangy, in and out type fighters.
Difference being Khan is faster, hits harder and is all round obviously much better than them.
Murray is very good, but his walk forward almost one dimensional style will play into Khan's hands.
I am not saying Khan is anything special just good enough and stylistically a nightmare for Murray thats all.

Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
If Khan had a chin then he would KO Murray, but at the moment, if they fought, Murray would have a puncher's chance. I actually think anyone who's a natural lightweight or heavier would have a puncher's chance versus Khan. His chin seems that bad.
Re: KHAN WOULD MULLER MURRAY
well, Moore is a more mature, older fighter who has seemed to refine all of his skills. Jamie Moore has definitely been in out and out wars, though I think he's reached a point where he doesn't need to, where he beats ppl up on his own terms. Moore has had that wild war with Michael Jones (3rd fight), Facey 1st fight an up & downer, the thriller with Macklin: and you think Murray will be in more wars!Riddick Blowe wrote:That type of 'getting in the trenches' style which takes away all physical advantages is a tough one to get right at world level. Definitely, Moore being a southpaw is an adantage, though not so much at 154 which is filled with lefthanders - Martinez, Santos, Pwilliams, Joe Greene, Kirkland when he gets out...Moore has more power than Murray, for sure.
Murray did seem a little careless once or twice v McAllister and Lawton - guys without power. Vs Meager, a slugger, he was more careful, blocking shots in close. Thaxton will be a nice step up, as Thaxton has always had a punch, and the punches will come from the southpaw stance. I expect it will be in the gameplan to avoid the Thaxton bombs.
re Juan Diaz - always thought he would have a heavy fall or 2. he puts too much in his shots with no power, and doesn't like it when the opponent doesn't quit or shit themselves against him. he was outclassing katsidis, but when katsidis tried to muscle him a bit, diaz goes back to corner, takes in massive deep breath, goes "whooooooooo" as if he's never seen anything like it. diaz not a big lightweight either.

Yes I said 'will be' in more wars from now on. I've seen more of Moore's recent career and like you say he seems to have become more refined. the style he has now seems better suited to a higher level and Murray, with his 'in the trenches' style will get into more wars, that's all I meant.Autobarn wrote: you think Murray will be in more wars!
