All Haye ever does is talk about how attractive other men are. He does that more than he fights

He has good stamina. Gone 12 rounds many times and always had some left in the tank, not usually the characteristic of a fat ass.

Re: getting this in early - haye vs valuev
Valuev has not stopped anyone for over three years and that was Monte Barret in the 11th round. Now way can Valuev be classed as a "puncher".
He might wear Haye down due to his sheer physical advantage and stop him through exhaustion. haye`s stamina is a question mark against such a big guy. However, I don`t see Valuev knocking Haye out with a single shot.
Haye on the other hand could knock out the big lump with a shot. He hits very hard, due mainly to the speed at which he throws the shots. The likely scenario for a Haye stoppage though, would be the ref stopping it due to unanswered punches.
The bookies still have Haye as a big favourite, so all this talk of Haye pulling off a shock is a bit misguided. Valuev has looked terrible in his last five fights, scraping to dubious points wins and losing to Chagaev, who was found out big time against Wlad Klit.
I did have Valuev to win this in the later rounds (10, 11 or 12) but the more I think about it, I will go for Haye for a stoppage before the 8th round.
At the moment it`s a toss up for me to pay the £15 and wathc it on Sky Box Office or go for the free show on ARD Germany.
With the German channel I won`t have to put up with Sky commentary, but I will miss the build up, as I don`t understand a word of german. Probably shell out the cash as I`m having people round to watch it.
Come on Haye, do him for Blighty.

Re: getting this in early - haye vs valuev
I'm with bob, i think Haye will win the fight on points and get jobbed on a decision, Haye is talking about KO ing Valuev, and David being the warrior and entertainer he his i have no doubt he will go for it, i just don't see it happening, the guy's neck must be 26".
I can't see David getting stopped though, people are over rating Valuev's power, his last five have gone the distance, he certainly doesn't have the punch a man of that size should.

and that shot only glanced the top of hayes head.....it was the jerking action of hayes head that caused the KD, the brain gets shaken.
Re: Haye vs Valuev has captured the British Public's interest
Hope Haye wins, and wins decisively.
Bloody hell, how good would it be for Britain to havre just a portion of the heavyweight title (and to use that as a tool for bigger fights)?
It's a great story, David vs Golitath. I hope Sky are going the extra mile with it. I hope the papers latch on to it. And I bloody well hope Haye delivers in style.
We could do with a fighter to give British boxing some good health. Who can sell some PPVs, and who can bring title back home and hopefully sell out that arena that he seemed to have consquered with the Macca fight.

Same thing here, people who've never shown an interest before seem to know about this fight.
I've seen adverts for it on everything from Sky Movies to MTV.

I'm going over for this.
I am behind Haye for all sorts of reasons but can someone help me out and make a convincing case for him being able to win? (other than my blind patriotism).

Re: Haye vs Valuev has captured the British Public's interest
valuevs hardest fight have come against smaller more nimble men (chagaev and holyfield) and he's slowed down recently, though his footwork and balance has improved. Haye is faster and harder hitting than both chagaev and holyfield so as long as his concesntration and stamina hold up he should be convincing. IMO holyfield lost because he took his foot off the pedle in the last 4 rounds hopefully haye can keep it up for 12 rounds. he's not a hard puncher so hayes chins shouldnt be too troubled in that department, whilst valuev was wobbled by non-punching fireman jean francois berginon.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:I'm going over for this.

Stick and move, stay out of trouble and hope he gets a fare shake with the judges - by the sounds of it, this is exactly what he plans to do. Don't think he knocks out Valuev, somehow.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:I'm going over for this.

It certainly has caught the public's imagintation - even my local, which never, EVER shows boxing, has a poster up advertising the fight to be shown there Sat night.

Are you kiddingAdamj1987 wrote:he's not a hard puncher so hayes chins shouldnt be too troubled in that department
I see your point Ian. Everyone who has picked Haye has seemed to be pretty brief and woolly. I have yet to see a detailed account of how Haye can actually win this one beyond 'Haye is too fast and skillful'. We know this is true, but it doesn't equate to a way of Haye winning.
I think Haye will be more cautious than usual in his approach but this will mean he will be sitting there waiting to time his right hand, waiting and not working enough. Dipping in and out scoring points is all very well if you're used to that sort of style, but Haye has rarely had to give up so many physical advantages to be in a position where he has to box and move and avoid getting into a dogfight. (not that Haye has ever needed to be an 'inside fighter' as such - he usually has the power to end things at medium range). Also, Haye isn't a mover by any stretch and won't be befuddling the giant with any fancy footwork.
I just think everything will be alien for Haye in this one - the size, presence of Valuev, the crowd, the officials and promoters, the occasion in general. He is stepping into a foreign atmosphere where the general thoughts/betting patterns regarding Valuev are very different from those in the UK. The Germans will probably see this as just another defence for Valuev, albeit from an outspoken Brit who is destined to get his comeuppance. Whereas we in the UK are billing it as a chance for David to fell a rather limited Goliath. Everything being foreign for Haye may be enough to tip the balance if things do turn out to be too close to call. I personally can see Valuev coming out as he usually does, but quickly realising Haye can be hurt, and then taking him out. Haye has been down vs clubbing punchers like Mormeck before, and Valuev packs more than Mormeck, and will probably land easier. I don't envisage a situation where Haye goes down a couple of times but finds his way back into the fight - I'm not sure Valuev will tire and I don't think Haye can turn things around with one punch.
I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm not there is a very nice payday waiting for me.

Exactly. People saying that Valuev is no puncher, should consider he probably hits harder than supermiddleweight Mock.
Valuev to catch up with him around 8 rounds I reckon. Could even be over much earlier

Haye also seems particularly vulnerable to shots high on the head, which is bad news against someone a foot taller.MightyWarrior wrote:Exactly. People saying that Valuev is no puncher, should consider he probably hits harder than supermiddleweight Mock.

If Haye plays it ala Roy Jones Jr vs Ruiz, he should notch an easy UD. But if he wants to go for the KO, he will get into a slugfest and he can't beat Valuev in a slugfest.

classless comments from Haye as usual. Being a prick pre-fight won't help him post fight if he gets whooped.
I hope he eats a lot of hair from Valuev's chest and chokes on it !

Re: Haye says valuev stinks
It is what it is.
Haye's money's tied to the PPV, the better it sells the better he does, win or lose.
I don't mean to sound condescending, but flattery gets less attention than saying nothing at all, it's not rocket science. Haye doesn't have the profile to play a friendly game of darts with the big fella and expect the mainstream to fawn.
Despite that, I don't think Haye wants to be thought of as a complete arseh*le, he's already said numerous times that he'll do what he can to get under an opponent's skin, no genuine mailce about it.
With boxing on the brink, it's the law of the jungle, you've got to scream to be heard.
If Haye loses... oh well, at least his bank account will help to cushion the fall. In a sport that has so little attention paid to it by the mainstream, it's better to be conspicuous in defeat than silently dignified. The size disparity has already painted it as an almost impossible ask to your average punter, so at least he'll be known in his comeback fight rather than rebuilding in the dark.
