You can really make a case for almost any result in this.

Either man early, Haye with his suspect chin or taking out Valuev with multiple big shots.

Either man mid to late, Haye gassing or again suspect chin failing him or taking Valuev apart bit by bit until it's 'timber' time or he is pulled out.

Either man by decision, Haye gets jobbed or wins so many rounds they can't bring themselves to in front of a watching worldwide audience.

I can really see literally anything happening here.

I think the biggest shame would be if Haye ran out of steam from hitting Valuev with clean shots. He is pretty used to seeing guys fall over after all.

Haye wins this fight - Of that I'm certain. Nothing against 'Big' Nikolai but he is going to have a frightening shock when Hayes super fast bombs hit him from all angles.

I can see Haye doing the moving back and around the ring like Chagaev - keeping out of harms way and then landing a few eye catching shots every round. (without any real commitment to engage) The thing is Haye will hit harder and quicker than Chagaev ever could.

It's gonna be interesting to see how both men handle getting hit - Haye is largely untested at this weight while there aren't really any noted hitters on Valuev's resume.

Both have been out of the ring for approximately a year and the effect could be worse on Haye who relies more on his speed and reflexes than Valuev.

I know Haye has tried to get under the skin of Valuev but I don't think it will work - the man will just fight his usual fight - no surprises. It's up to Haye to have a game plan and execute it and bring a Plan B.

Valuev isn't easy to beat - the sheer size of him causes problems. I do think Haye will KO him but I expect the first few rounds to be pretty quiet. When Haye hurts him in those middle rounds - he will finish him off.

I expect to feel the tremors in my living room in Wales. DD

I would have expected to see the ring size specified to an exact size in the fight contract. With a man that big you need a big ring to escape his clutches. As you say MW, I think Team Haye may have dropped a b0llock here.

As long as its not a small ring i dont see how its going to make any difference - a medium or large sized ring is all the room haye needs, he doesnt exactly box on the back foot so wont be running around the ring he just needs enough room to avoid being lent on all the time. Whats the bet were going to see the same manouver PBF used to ko hatton?

Haye can be a great offensive fighter with sizzling speed and power. There is so much target on Valuev. If haye can unleash, reset, punch, move and fight a really disciplined fight, he can win.

Obviously it is such a huge physical test. Haye might have been a big cruiserweight, but he still was a cruiserweight once, and Valuev is the biggest heavyweight there is. Of course he has frailties, but has worked through them in tough, long fights (Mormeck, Fragomeni). It may not take much for him to crumble if Valuev lands, so let's hope Haye boxes a brilliant fight - throughout.

Haye has been a brutal body puncher in the past. He has so much snap in his shots. I wonder if he can hurt Valuev to the body. Hopefully it works out for Hayemaker, who has made some curious career choices but who could stirke gold if he wins "David vs Goliath".

After watching the buildup programme and reminded of the target Valuev offers in the clips i saw of him I'm thinking that Haye definitely WILL land in this one. I have picked Valuev by early KO but I'm starting to have a hunch that Haye is capable of hurting Valuev with his dynamic shots.

I'll stick with Valuev KO but i don't think it'll be as tough for Haye to land as I originally thought.

Now he looked good against Barrett but if Barrett can survive for five rounds I think Valuev will be able to survive long enough for him to land that punch on Haye.

As LeForge said, Barrett took the Solis fight on short notice. Haye knocked out Barrett before Solis, so Barrett's chin would have been worse for the Solis bout. Haye was trying insanely hard to impress in the fight and was searching for the knockout.

Finally, Cliff Couser knocked out Monte Barrett in 2 rounds. It's about far more than the stats. It's about looking into the fights.

Solis is a big puncher. I'd imagine Haye's punches are sharper and Solis's heavier.

Raff The Frenchman reckoned Valuev wasn't "up" for the Holyfield fight, because he was fighting one of his boxing idols. Interesting take.

The funny thing is that his son is actually a fully grown 18 year old...

Meantime, I think Haye can do this. To be sure, he's not cut out to give Valuev the lateral movement Holyfield showed -- even at 132 years old -- which clearly gave Valuev fits, because he couldn't set.

But Valuev is terribly vulnerable to being countered under the jab with a right cross -- good for Haye -- and Haye won't offer too many jabs from which Valuev can counter with his own rights or uppercuts.

Just depends whether Haye gets 'caught' or if his stamina holds up.

But I wonder, given that the big man looks slower of late, whether Haye can't go and stop him. If Valuev flicks with the jab and throws the right as slowly as he did against Holyfield, he might be in for a painful night.

PS, Arthur Conan Doyle is very popular in Russia. Really, that and Agetha Christie (especially Poirot). In fact, as my Russian friends never tire telling me, apparently the Queen likes to Russian film version of Sherlock Holmes the best.
