sometimes i don't think you remember the greatness that was Aussie Joe (WBF?) world champ and Jimmy Thunder. These Australians were legendary champs.......

Well I remember seeing old Joe eke out decisions against Tillis and Bey. Then I went overseas for a couple of years. Whilst there I used to read about Jimmy Thunder and wondered if he was any good. The Mike Hunter burst his bubble and that was that

That was Thunder's tenth fight and Hunter's twentieth. Jimmy went on to beat a couple of former World Champions (Tubbs and Berbick) as well as being IBO heavyweight Champ and KOing Crawford Grimsley in 13 seconds (including the count). He faded towards the end of his career.

The worth of Bugner's world heavyweight title is such that we Brits don't even claim it among our successes!

Thunder, meanwhile, is Samoan. (I know he has fought out of Australia, but wasn't he always billed as Samoan?).

PS If you're claiming Thunder, you should he's a TWO-time heavyweight champion of the world, sharing WBF distinction with Aussie Joe, and later reigning as king of the IBO, baby.

Thunder started his professional career in Australia and was Australian Heavyweight Champion. He only fought once in Samoa, well into his career.

Allen Williams, who won the Australian heavyweight title in 1955 and held it until 1959, with 9 defences, had a 39-8 record with 23 KOs. He was considered for a challenge to Floyd Paterson. He would probably have made a better fight than some of those Floyd fought.

Great stuff! Not quite how I remembered it, but essentially the same effect. Camera zoomed in on Grimsley's head; one second later, his head isn't there anymore!
