Amateur records

Post by taffytoon »

Is there anywhere that I can check amateur boxing records? I have a bit of a Billy Bull working for me from an agency who is telling everyone he beat Joe Callzaghe as an Amateur

I have had his details sent over and when he was 16 Joe would have been 10 :OhYes: If he did every beat him NO WONDER.

I just wondered if I could look somewhere and print it off for the notice board :TU:

Come to think of it,it would have been a great idea for ABA to type down each Boxer Amateur record.I know this would be alot of work as there are Some many boxers both present and past that boxed as an amateur.I understand that the ABA receives the record book when a boxer change clubs or when they retire,Maybe they could do it if a boxer got in touch with them and ask for his record.I like to see my record and sure others would like to see theirs.

Ask to see his Medical Card mate.
If he fought him there may be a record on there.

There is a web site that has the amateur record of every current champion, and a lot of past ones. It says who they fought in tournaments, but not in general bouts.

just pull him up on the age thing. Ask how old he was when he fought joe, then reply with "but if you were 21 joe was 16 so wouldve been a junior... just ask him for as much detail as possible, he'll trip himself up !!

A mate of mine fought Joe in the welsh am finals, he won the first round by a few points (was it scored on points in them days though) but was stopped in the seodn round to to a bloody nose. I didnt really believe his account of the fight, then he handed me the dvd. Soon shut me up.

I know a guy called Michael Smyth beat Calzaghe as an Amateur , think it was the last time he got beat
i know this cause my Bro beat him as a Pro and that was the claim to Fame
also he was in the paper not long after Calzaghe beat Roy jones also

he would be older than Calzaghe but dont think a 16 year old would be fighting a 10,

Name: Michael Smyth
Alias: Barry Bomber
Born: 1970-02-22
Birthplace:
Nationality: United Kingdom
Hometown: Barry, Wales, United Kingdom
Boxing Record: click
Height: 5′ 9″ / 175cm

Smyth defeated Joe Calzaghe at the 1990 Welsh ABA tournament, which was the last time that Calzaghe was beaten as an amateur or professional. [1]

Hes lying to you mate :TU:

Smyth did beat Calzaghe in the Welsh ABA welterweight final in 1990, but his last amateur defeat was against Adrian Opreda of Romania in the European juniors that year. I think he lost 11 amateur bouts, including his first against a lad called Chris Stock from Harlequins in Newport. He lost to Oktay Urkal as well, and to Darren Blumson in the 1986 Schools finals. I don't think he lost more than half a dozen contests once he got to 14 or 15.

Alot of the schoolboys juniors and seniors are listed here, winners and losers. unfortunately in 1986 it doesn't show the losers, but it does show D. blumson as the winner in 86....

Its amazing how many times they trip themselves up and it usually goes like this , he belted the pisser out of me but i fought back hard and got a draw , i then went back and trained hard and beat the crap out of him for 10 rounds to win the north west ===south east county ameteur title chapionship and if you mention no draws or 10 rounders in ameteurs it will be not now but in my day there was. ha ha

Had to laugh once went in this pub with my mate won't mention his name he would'nt like it, anyway he was at the time a very well known fighter nationaly so we goes in having a quiet drink , bloke next to us starts taliking before long he starts to tell us he's a pro boxer , Then he starts to tell us about his last big fight where he hammered ,, guess who , , probably guessed my mate. well we look at each other , and don't say a word , minuite later he introduces himself by name , i give him my name , shake hands , my mate offers his name and shakes his hands ,

The guys jaw drops , he then says so your bla bla bla , fack pleased to meet you and asks for his autograph , not one mention of his comments two minuites before , he acted like he never said it ,

Fack it was funny we still laugh about it now, personally i think he must of been a bit mental
