Loved Ortiz, but Bazooka Gomez in his prime was one of the most dominant fighters I've ever seen and his wars with Zarate and Pinter were classics

Gomez and Ortiz should be tops. But I gotta go with Gomez. 17 world title defenses, all by KO. that is still a world record. And if we add that he won 2 more titles in different weight classes when he was not in his prime, that is the key there.

I’m sorry Seamus but Serrano has no business in the top 10.

The best from Puerto Rico

1.a. Carlos Ortiz his record speaks for himself
1.b. Wilfredo Gomez
3. Wilfredo Benitez
4. Feliz Trinidad
5. Pedro Montañez
6. Hector Camacho
7. Jose Basora the often forgotten one, just look at his record he gave hell to a prime Robinson in a draw and hold wins against greats like Holman Williams, Fritzie Zivic, and Jake LaMotta. Also almost stop Ezzard Charles in a war. Why people always forget about him?
8. Jose Torres
9. Cocoa Kid
10.a. Edwin Rosario
10.b. Wilfredo Vasquez

A case could be made for any of your additional fighters, but don't sell Serrano short, he was 15-2-1 in world title fights.

Most of these threads have been landslides. I voted for Ortiz, & it's nice to see a competitive vote for a change. He's dead-level with Gomez right now :TU:

Good point. He was superior to several names listed here.
