No. Jones hasn't been competitive with any world class fighters since he beat Tarver, that was what, 6 years ago now? He has faced four top ten opponents since that time and been knocked out or dominated in every fight. Prime RJJ was one of the most talented fighters of all time in my opinion, but now he is a shell of his former self and the results will show that.

Beating Lacy and Omar Sheika doesn't mean anything.

Eh -- it's Danny Green's fault for taking a hard line in the negotiations with Hopkins.

BHop took short money to fight Trinidad because he knew what it would ultimately do for him if he won it. Green is in the same spot (especially after his win against RJJ). Beat BHop with short money, and then you'd have another big money fight with the Jones rematch clause.

What Jones rematch clause? Who the hell would pay to watch Jones get killed?

According to interviews with both guys, there was a rematch clause in the contract of the first fight and during the time that BHop and Green were negotiating, Jones said he wanted the rematch and would go after it. The clause granted Green the ability to have an "interim" fight, so it did not stipulate an immediate rematch.

I do think Jones is past his best, but having said that Green is fighting at his ideal Weight IMO. He has looked great at 180 pounds. As an amature he fought at around 180.
I think Green at this time is looking like the same monster that Fucked Beyer up in the first fight, before he started having weight problems.

Couldn't agree more, and the thing is his prime wasn't like Tyson prime 85-90, his prime was like a ten year plus period.

Can't remember his name ATM but a yank Journalist/ commentator that does the US fights on Fridays shown here in OZ said it best about Jones jnr, it's not that he was undefeated that made him great, it was the fact that he fought for almost 12 years without barely losing a round of boxing.

The guys clearly doing damage to how people will remember him.

180 and beyond...he's naturally a big guy so he should fight big guys, he'll have another fight or two before weighing in at 200.

Graziano usually fought 5 pounds under the middleweight limit. Dick tiger was 10 pounds under the light heavyweight limit when he took the title off Torres. you do not have to fight at the maximum. Green is fighting in a division where he can fight at his natural weight and does not have to waste.

I think he would beat most guys at 200 weighing in at his last weigh in.

He won't do it easy at his current weight, but could see him even more destructive at a higher weight, speed will diminish but more power added.

the formula for power is speed times mass, so there is no point adding extra kilos to ones ideal fight weight as it would only add a bit more mass for loss of speed, cruiser weight is a big weight division with a large gap between light heavy and heavy, it doesnt matter if there is a couple of kilos difference between opponents.

Yeah but people get old, metabolism's slow down and in the history of this sport only 1 man has ever been a bigger enough dickhead to put his health at risk to go down in weight as he aged, fighters always end up putting the extra weight on as they age.

The blokes talking about eventually fighting at Heavy, he's going to put on more weight, we'll all may as well get used to it.

What I'm trying to say, Houndawg, is there is no point to trying to bulk up unnaturaly with fat or muscle(realisticly a bit of both) in order to fight as it is only going to rob one of some of the speed one would have at their natural weight for the same fight, not mention it is harder to lug around the extra bulk. You rarely see body builder or overly fat champions.

Oh i don't disagree at all, I'm just saying the blokes talking about Heavy, i would think weighing in at 79kg or 180 pounds taking on 260 pound 115kg guy would be suicidal. I wonder if it would even be sanctioned, i can remember Jones jnr weighing in at 86 kg 191 pounds but thats the lightest fighter I've heard since like Marciano's era at heavyweight.
