Bob Dunlop Elmo Henderson 2nd fight
Bob Dunlop Elmo Henderson 2nd fight
Box Rec lists Bob Dunlop as knocking out Elmo Henderson in their December 1967 fight in the 4th round. It was actually the 9th round. It appears to be a typo as Henderson KO'd Dunlop in their previous fight in the 4th round.

Re: Bob Dunlop Elmo Henderson 2nd fight
It is a shame nobody taught Dunlop how to punch properly. Most of his KOs ended in the referee stopping the fight as Bob threw a flurry of punches with no shoulder behind them.
Re: Bob Dunlop Elmo Henderson 2nd fight
Bobby was always throwing, as Brute says, flurries of punches and was the fittest fighter of his time. I saw him fight the Scot: Young McCormack at the old Barn, and it was hot and sweaty as Hades. McCormack just about melted in the heat as Bobby was all over him like a rash hitting him at will before it was stopped. The sweat-box like conditions of the Barn had no effect on Bobby
Same thing happened in Elmo's 2nd fight with Bobby landing dozens of hits that had Elmo covering up due to the shear volume of punches thrown but not the heaviness of the punches. Then the bout was stopped, with Elmo just shaking his head in defeat but looking none the worse from wear.
Again Bobby was the fittest fighter of his era.

Re: Bob Dunlop Elmo Henderson 2nd fight
There was a story going around at the time that when Ern McQuillan was drumming up the Dunlop fight against Torres, a reporter asked something like this: "how will Bobby go?". Ern replied "he is so fit, he's the fittest fighter ever". "But Ern, this bloke is a former world champion!" said the reporter. Ern jumped back in "he's so fit, he's so fit, dont you get it".
"OK" said the reporter "but can he fight?". Ern mouthed an expletive and interjected "you watch Bobby - he so fit".
Ern loved to talk up his fighters but over-matched Bobby against Torres.
