Gentlemen Gentlemen, The most prestigious organization in BRS history hardly needs defending. Let's set the record straight.
From the moment we signed onto this season we had a goal of creating a climate where Maxie Rosenbloom could achieve something in Sim that he never could in life. The point of sending Max in to defeat Calzaghe was to set up a winning championship fight with Young Stribling. Once it was obvious that this was not to be at least this week we shopped it out, and we could have had Conn Face Maxie and guaranteed ourselves a belt into the coming week. But we will never have our fighters face one another.
Once it was clear that FOL and Geto would not be flexible and it was not to be, we shopped it out, Ezzard asked and he got it, we honestly thought Ezzard had already been booked and thought he had to break his set fight in order to face Rosenbloom. We evaded no one, once Stribling was not available it made no difference to us who Maxie will need to defeat next. We offered it to anyone who was interested, The first taker got it.
You'll remember we championed the same sort of nostalgia in behalf of Harry Wills.
