Hopkins vs Ruiz would be a horrific fight to watch but I think Hopkins would outsmart him..
As for Hopkins vs Haye, I'm sure plenty on here think Haye would blast him out or win easily, but I actually pick 45/46 year old Hopkins to beat Haye. When has Hopkins ever been hurt or KOd? He has the power to KO Haye though in my opinion and will be the best boxer Haye has ever faced in his entire life. It's not hard to imagine him walking Haye onto one of those sneaky right hands, the kind that dropped Calzaghe. Lets not forget his experience and the fact that he is like a chamelion in the ring and can change and adapt in any way. Not to mention his liking for, shall we say, "old pro" moves. (in other words, dirty tactics).
And yet I'm sure most on the forum think Haye would blast Hopkins out.
One thing is sure.. a fight in America, on HBOPPV, that will put millions in Hayes pocket and put a KO beside Bernards name on Hayes resume, will look enticing to Haye and I can certainly see this fight happening.
Hopkins doesnt have the power to KO haye! Fighting at light heavy is a whole different kettle of fish to fighting at heavyweight im pretty sure hopkins wouldnt be able take a clean shot from a power puncher like haye.
Having said that i think there is a small chance the fight might be made.
Hopkins doesnt have the power to KO Haye? Lolenga Mock had Haye down and nearly out.

Even at his best Hopkins was a very cautious boxer who I acknowledge was/is fantastic defensively - but how many times has he bored you to tears watching him - especially in the big fights!!!
Hopkins would be in his defensive shell throughout the fight with Haye - he would try to steal the fight by occasionally popping out the jab.

If Hopkins lands clean Haye is out.
Segundo mercado had hopkins down twice and nearly out does that mean anyone ele who can hit will take him out if hit cleanly?
How many light heavys or in recent years super middles or even middles has Hopkins had down and out by landing cleanly?
Haye is a big big cruiser who has made the transition to heavyweight.Hopkins is a crafty supremly conditioned 45 year old who hasnt scored a one punch ko in a long time (6 years to be correct and that was a body shot)
This is a daft fight that i wouldnt like to see too big too young too fresh.
Hopkins could not chin Jermaine Taylor when hitting him cleanly and we know his chin is suspect.
Hopkins has exactly one stoppage in the last 7 years, and that was De La Hoya, a naturally much smaller man. I really wouldn't be putting any dosh on him stopping Haye if they fought. Which they won't, so the point is somewhat moot.

I think Hopkins can hurt him, don't forget, Lolenga Mock was a blown up 168 pounder, and he had Haye in a world of trouble. He barely made it to his feet before the count.
Hopkins has looked very physically robust at 175, and one advantage he will have is that the big boys don't throw so many shots, so he won't need the gas in the tank. I'd make Haye favourite, but not by a huge margin.
I'm not sure if Haye will want that fight - why risk getting beat by a 175 lb old timer, which would mean the fight with either klit would never happen.
I'll never right off Hopkins in any fight. He maybe negative these days and he certainly holds a lot, but i've never seen anyone come remotely close to making him look silly. Haye would be the obvious favourite, but you'd be a fool to completely write off Hopkins bag of tricks.

i think people are forgetting Mock was Hayes 7th professional fight, he's infinatley better than then and he climbed off the canvas to take Mock out in 4.

we all know the skill hopkins has and how well hes done over the years but imo getting in with haye would almost amount to suicide.

It wasn't suicide for Ismail Abdul, who took Haye the distance. Hopkins is 100x better than Abdul.

That may be so, but the fact is, it indicates that Haye doesn't have the sturdiest of chins, and that he has been hurt by naturally smaller men. He did indeed get up to win, but he very nearly didn't make it up, he got up, then realised he was fucked, took a knee, and then got up around 8 or nine.
do any of you get any joy over all this, debating a fight that won't happen, that would be terribly boring and probably a physical mismatch to boot?
hopkins was a massive fight for calzaghe, but he's not a massive fight for haye. i think haye wants wlad. the 2 bros keep on chopping and changing re haye. now it looks like wlad wants it. i get the impression that vitali, who looked old vs the terrible kevin johnson, is winding down his career with a title defense vs sosnowski and then perhaps getting out. whereas wlad, whose mando povetkin still isn't ready, has an opening for a big fight...
i think hopkins is getting too much credit on here. he couldn't finish a raw jermain taylor when he had him hurt.

I thought Vitali looked absolutely fine against Thompson, considering how negative and evasive he was.

When he fought in Ecaudor.
I think it might of been against Antn Ecwolls.
He was in trouble - I think he might of been knocked out of the ring.
Anyway - he cheated and held on and rode out the storm.
I give Hopkins a chance of beating Haye - as a superior ring general -
But for just pure size and strength and power - there is the probabilty Haye will knock him out.

It was Segundo Mercado who had him in trouble - it was attributed to altitude sickness as the fight was at altitude in Quito which is at 2850 metres.
My thoughts on this fight now after watching the two fighters at the weekend...
First, Haye is obviously going to be a massive favourite.
Some things to consider... Haye is not a good inside fighter, Bernard can take the fight inside. Bernard is crafty and wily and knows every trick in the book. He doesn't mind stinking out the joint to get a win. He is a defensive master and knows how to neutralise his opponents offense. Hayes right hand is his major weapon and Bernard will be well prepared for it. He also has power himself which would be enough to do damage to Haye in my opinion, or at the very least, keep him honest. He has probably got better stamina than Haye (yes I said it) and even at this stage, a better chin and durability.
So, all that said, would you still pick Haye to beat him?
I assume most would. And most would pick Haye by KO too.
Maybe it's just me, but I have way too much respect for Bernard to think that anybody could just go in there and blast him out. It's just not happening. He has never been blasted out and has given a good even fight to every man he has shared a ring with. He's seen better than Haye and I wouldn't be quick to throw the weeks wages on Haye to beat Hopkins.
I believe the fight will happen next for Haye as he tries to crack America.
I see the fight being a borefest. Bernard will try the roughhouse tactics and do a lot of clinching. He'll draw Haye in and make Haye make mistakes and capitalise. Probably go down like he's been shot from a few rabbit punches again. It will be a messy afair and will go to points and Haye will get the decision... too much money to be made with Haye. Thats how I see it. Too much respect for Bernard to think that Haye can just go in there and bomb him out,
