Luckily for all of them, Liston & Dempsey have been omitted.

Of that bunch? Frazier. You could make a case for him having the best left hook even with Liston & Dempsey in the poll.

Frazier's was the best weapon in terms of power, speed, timing, and variation . . . but if we are talking sheer power I probably have to go with Cooney with Tua a close second.

I take, "best" to mean best overall, myself. Tua's hook, for instance, likely had more brute force behind it, while Frazier's had more, 'crack' to it.

Bob Foster had the best I ever saw.

Ive heard Charlie White had a great one too.

Frazier for sure.

Dempsey should have been on the list as should have Walcott.

'p4p' i would say Patterson, actually, it was so fast and explosive. I don't think Dempsey's was tight enough for consideration alongside Frazier et al.

Tommy Morrison's monster hook against Ruddock; he was out before he hit the floor. When his head bounced on the mat, he woke up again. It was crazy.

At Joe Frazier's peak his left hook was "Nuclear Field Artillery" class.

Maybe. Maybe not. Like I said, it's a case --- & a legit one, at that. I would stop short of calling it a slam-dunk, though. Not with guys like Dempsey & Liston in the equation. Even Louis' left hook ranks with the best, though it is simply less-oft discussed.

Joe Frazier had a left hook that could topple a brick wall.
So I went for him...

Though I must add that I'm glad to see Tommy Morrison in the list, I think he gets very uinderrated and overlooked. :TU:

Holyfield should definitely be on this poll. His hook may not have been as hard as most of those guys but his punching technique was perfect. Tight and compact and it had plenty of pop to it.

I have to side with frazier, but Holyfield is easily top 5 imo.

During the 1970s, Bob Foster's left-hook was ranked as the best by many fans, even when Joe Frazier was in his prime.

Bob ought to be able to tell you a little something about the Frazier left hook.

p.s. A little story. In the dressing room after getting damn near decapitated by Frazier, Foster at one point started to lace up his boxing shoes. His trainer asked him what he was doing. Foster replied that it was getting time to go out to the ring for the fight.

Frazier was too strong for Foster. it was obvious from the get go.
If we are measuring knockouts by guys kayoing lighter opponents, then take a look at Foster annihalating Dick Tiger.

Can you cite this claim? It's not unbelievable it's more so I would love to see a credible source back this up because this sounds like a hilarious (yet somewhat scary) story.

I read this in an article about Foster on some internet boxing site a few years ago, maybe CBZ, but not sure.

Sometime this week I'll do a search on a few other sites and see if I can find it.
