it was a jaw breaker - literally.

He broke the guy's jaw... didn't know. Was a brutal finish. Always feel for the guy who gets taken out of a fight like that. But that's boxing for you!

I can see a rematch happening if Hasegawa's jaw heals up properly. I think the Korean will do better next time as well - though you have to give full credit to Montiel for a great finish.

it would be interesting to see a rematch. i wonder if montiel will be tempted over for a big payday?

would be a totally different fight. i believe it would be more back and forth, rather than domination by hasegawa followed by montiel's sudden KO shots.

i actually hope hasegawa can salvage something, before moving up to featherweight. this could be the most compelling part of hasegawa's career, as he really has something to prove now.

montiel has a couple of mandatories coming up, william gonzalez (lanky southpaw) and the arce-morel winner. it will be interesting to see if montiel will dump that WBO belt.

montiel really has proven himself with a KO win in japan, but what he really needs is a big performance vs a big name on a major US TV date. this is the only thing that is missiing in his career.

He's Japanese. He always fights in Japan as well.

True. There was another guy floating around a while ago who was a Korean fighting out of Japan with a Japanese-sounding name but I can't remember who it was now.
