Antonio Tarver wants Klitschkos and Haye

Post by FLINT ISLAND »

Antonio Tarver - 41 years old - has hit the gym again and is packing on muscle mass.

He will return soon as a heavyweight - and boldy and openly states he is targeting both Vitali and Wladmir and Britains David Haye.................

Tarver is past it and wasn't that good in the first place. Dawson landslided him twice - he should be retired.

Why do the Showtime commentators still call him CHAMP.

I think any fighter moving up has a fair chance with the current bunch- Klitchko brothers aside. Its a different sport and speed and movement is so important; people love the old adage of a good big man beating a good little man but its being disproven over and over again in recent years. I think Tarver was a nice smooth boxer with good judgement of distance. He was outspeeded by Dawson and Hopkins but remove that advantage and he's got the experience and fundamentals to be a handful.

Iv'e read an interview where he say's this...........

He doesn't appear to want any warm up fights and to go straight in with the Klits or Haye, which suggests its just for the money.

He will just dance around for a few rounds, take a few shots and then quit.

Tarver simply isn't big enough

My lasting memory of Tarver is when he came over to England and screamed down Clinton Woods................

Look how pretty I am do I look like a boxer to you !!!!

He got up and slammed his fists on the table - Woods got up and told him to behave himself

Woods said he would beat him................Tarver said "get that shite out of your mind right now"

Woods was shaken up and on the back foot.

After the press conference Woods commented on "what a horrible guy" Tarver was

Well that's simply crap.........

He has beaten some good fighters, a certain RoyJones Jr twice, so that's not the case at all

He is simply not big enough.......and knows that a more natural weight class for him at this stage in his career, ie, cruiserweight, doesn't generate any big pay days, because no named or recognisable fighters operate at that weight.

At this stage in his career, Tarver is neither good enough or big enough to beat the Klitschko's or Haye. He would lose badly to every top fifteen heavyweight, so I don't see how he could hold his own with the top three.

It doesn't really matter, because there is no chance he gets in the ring with them anyway. So far, Tarver has shown a lot of promise as a commentator for Showtime. That is where he belongs. Not in the ring with opponents who will surely knock him out.

And why has Flint never commented on a weight class below CRUISER!

he clearly broke his hand in that fight, i think that is an unfair comparison.
