...nino valdez vs. ezzard charles....nino was an okay fighter and had some good wins, but i don't think he was ever better than in this fight. charles was past it, but still nino didn't have any trouble with him. he just used that long jab all through the fight and ezzard never adjusted. nino did say, "that ezzard charles...man, h e was something else."

The win catapulted Taylor to superstar status but other than another contraversial win over Hopkins he did nothing after that.

Rahman will be mentioned, but he needn't be, IMO. Great, rare result, but a great performance it was not. He faced a sluggish & sloppy Lewis, & was still behind & cut, when he pulled off the knockout. I don't think he was looking any better than his usual, mediocre self until that moment.

I don't see how he was behind, he was working his jab well and actually set up the right hand that ended it. But I see your point, he was probably more impressive dominating Tua until he lost on a blatant foul.

I don't see how he was behind, he was working his jab well and actually set up the right hand that ended it. But I see your point, he was probably more impressive dominating Tua until he lost on a blatant foul.

You'd have to ask the judges. All three had him down 3-1 in rounds, trailing by two going into the fifth.

The judges also had Lewis tied with Holyfield after 12 rounds. I assumed you were giving your opinion, not the three blind mice. Rahman was no worse than even. In a rare moment of genius, George saw it materializing.
