Boxing for over 18s only?

Post by whicker »

Just looking at ticket sales online, and noticed that some boxing events (mainstream ones, for sure) are advertised as for 18+ only.

Is that a new thing, a legal thing perhaps? Or an new initiative by promoters ?

to be honest you dont see many kids at boxing shows anyway , ive had a problem like this on my white collar shows , i originally said no under 18s due to it having a licensed bar , but then id get for example a 16 year old let in by the venues doormen , when i ask why , they say kids are allowed in and its his brother fighting etc , on another show i had a 16 year old doing an exhibition bout , of course a lot of his mates that he sold tickets to werent 18 either .
MY stance nowdays on this is that no one under 14 shall be allowed in unless the venue has for example a strict no under 18 policy etc , any one between 14 and 18 that does attend must be with a consenting adult , if not they are refused entry , that way the parents decide on a case by case basis as to wether they want there child to see boxing , near naked ladies , and boozed up supporters , personally wouldnt want my child at one of my events , but i pretty much go with the opinon of the venue now , if they allow kids then ill limit it to 14 upwards.
