Your underestimating Paul smith! OAU not looked good in his last two fight but has won has good amateur experince I think he too strong for both. Paul will beat David and go onto world title shot and I think he can win it. I also think Bryan magee will win world title too love to see smith v magee! Magee was in the fight with froch until he got stopped.

Paul Smith is a very good fighter indeed - he would test Degale - probably one of the very few in the UK who could test which is why Mr W arren needs to make that fight - still have Degale taking Smigga apart though!!

i dont no how smigga warrants a world title shot??? fair enough if he gets one, but by defeating dodson who was ko'd by his last opponent then to box mcdermott aint deservant of such honours.

i think degale may be a bit too big for smith.

Magee is going elsewhere unless silly money without options is on the table.

Smith v Degale has to happen - W arren has put his fighters in against each other time and time again - and for a massive fight like Smigga v Degale he would rake it in.

You'd think the amount of forums you post on, you'd pick up on how world title fights work.
Rankings and money make world title fights. Ricky Burns had a great ranking, Frank got the fight and Ricky snatched the opportunity with both hands. Ricky is now WBO champion.
I'm #5 WBO and #8 WBC. That's not counting the voluntary opportunities that come with having a good promoter, fan base and appeal.

Regarding the thread, DeGale beats Groves and beats him well for me. Groves is too easy to hit and only looks good going forward.
I said tonight to my mates (and people at the venue who asked) what would happen in the fight, Dilks would freeze and I gave him 2 rounds before it got stopped - Bomber can vouch for that.
It obviously lasted one. I never posted anything as Carl posts on here and he has the fight to deal with without me and others writing him off - but basically that was my opinion having watched a lot of Carl both as an amateur in the flesh and as a pro. The opponents he has fought are nowhere near DeGale's level and I've felt all along that Dilks was being really overrated - Great matchmaking!

Not to kick a man when he's down, that's not what I'm doing. Dilks was in there and that takes something. :TU:

Hello Smigga,

Come on - humour me - why on earth cant you and Degale get it on.

I am willing to bet - you would make more money in a massive showdown with Degale than you would fighting for a meaningless and spurious world title belt unless its for WBA, WBC or the IBF of course. :TU:

Just wrote on the other thread - IMO there is no chance unless absolutely ridiculous money is offered will Degale v Groves be made.

Hayemaker Boxing needs Groves to remain unbeatan - Groves on the undercard of Haye fights enhances the show a little and as such he will be saved for Degale at a later date when Haye has been and gone and even more money can be made.

Degale v Smigga is more likely to happen!!! :TU:

Paul ignore some of silly comments you are beyond British level after your next fight if you win. Spud frank won't put degale in with Paul yet there no sense in that fight now. Paul a fight from a world title fight or elimantor IMO. Look Paul may support a shit football team but he was a good amateur and we show people he belongs at world level IMO him v mages would be like a world title elimantor IMO!

Spudley my mate. Business is business and a fight now doesn't make business sense. James Degale is an Olympic gold medallist.
I sell 8,000 tickets for our Liverpool shows. I have decent rankings at world level and I have a great promoter with pull. I want a world title which I believe I can win then you know what, Degale can have a shot and we'll make a right few quid.

just back from the fight in the hotel and i'm surprised that DeGale hasn't got a bit more praise for his performance tonight in the main thread about the Mag 7. I thought he was the most impressive taking apart a Top 10 British fighter in only his 8th fight or whatever.

This whole Groves thing is a bit silly. I can't see Hayemaker taking that fight now unless they want to end Groves' career prematurely. DeGale is stronger and most importantly quicker and definitely more naturally gifted.

Smigga doesn't really come into the equation as I'm certain after he keeps the Lonsdale he'll vacate to fight for a World Title. The only way him and DeGale meet is if it's for a Smith World Title defence down the line that looks like a no-lose for FW, although if he's smart and the fighters keep improving he'll get them each a version of the title and maybe a unification at some point. It's a tough division but both are good fighters and have big days ahead of them. Obviously time and freshness is on DeGale's side, he's advancing rapidly and not really been in the sort of wars that Smigga has, but he looks like the genuine article IMHO.

I saw Groves on the Haye undercard and he was decent, but DeGale just looks to be better in every department. If they make that fight now, DeGale stops him in the 6th or 7th for me, but I can see them stringing it out a bit to make it worth a bit more money. Looks like FW wants it for his big December show though...but as I say I can see Mr Booth swerving that to give his boy a couple more fights before putting it on the line

Frank W arren is in the business of being a very good promoter indeed.

He has possibly one of the top prospects in World boxing on his hands in Degale and as such he is under pressure to deliver big fights to Degale who is inpatient to progress.

If Smigga v Degale is not happening then Smigga will be asked by Mr W arren to vacate - for Smigga to do that he will need to be guaranteed a World Title shot and some big bucks to step aside.

Smigga is a class boxer but he also has a family and needs to put food on the table - the money he would make from a Degale fight would be more than as a world title challenger as in this case its a truly massive domestic showdown - enough money would be made to keep him and his family very happy.

People keep going on about Smigga winning his next Domestic title fight to be deserving of a world title shot - I think Brian Magee and others higher up in the rankings might have something to say about that.

Smith will only get a shot if W arren offers silly money for the champion of a belt to make a voluntary defence - otherwise Smigga will have to get in the queue.

Paul IMO should have been British champ long before he was. I think he deserve a chance a world title as early as he can. He a better fighter than his last two results but I think him v magee if it could be made Would be a perfect world title elimantor!

Hello Pal!! :TU:

Yep agree you are with a top promoter - the best in Europe as far as I am concerned - although I dont like him to much!!!

I keep banging on about this fight because I have a hunch Boxing politics will get in the way unless Mr W arren digs very deep into his pocket and makes a very good offer.

But Smigga - the key issue is "boxing politics" - you need to find a champion who can make a voluntary and is willing to come to Liverpool - that will cost Mr W arren a few quid.
