I still can't fathom how Kid McCoy, Jimmy Barry, Jim Driscoll, John Henry Lewis, Mike Gibbons and Luis Rodriguez come up short, but Jersey Joe Walcott makes it.

John Henry and Luis were robbed. Pedroza was one of my favorite fighters growing up. There is no case to be made for him over either of these two. The resumes aren't in the same stratosphere.

Walcott was a heavyweight which of course makes him more well known. The good news is that with so many guys making it this time, there is a much better chance of McCoy, John Henry Lewis, Rodriguez etc making it next time.

It was pretty interesting how the results came in.
For example, the last election Jimmy Bivins only got 4 votes out of 10. This time he got all 10 votes! When you consider that 9 out the 10 voters were the same in the two elections, that is very surprising.
My conslusion is that Bivins must have just missed being on a lot of people's ballot the previous election.

That is the one factor that we don't really know. Were fighters like McCoy, John Henry Lewis, Luis Rodriguez etc close to being on the ballots of the voters who did not vote for them? If so, they will probably be elected next time.

Well I voted for both of them. Hopefully Driscoll will make it next time. Kilbane does belong. Among other things, Kilbane did beat Attell, won a Newspaper Decision over Dundee and got a Nwespaper draw against Leonard.

I'm very sad, because never will be in the BoxRec Hall of Fame greatest South American fighters because they are unknown for the voters...

Fighters like Angel Rodriguez, Jose Carattoli, Goyo Peralta, Cesar Brion, Eduardo Lausse, Rafael Merentino, Raul Rodriguez, Federico Thompson, Jorge Fernandez, who would vote for this and others great boxers?

Federico would deserve a look down the line. The rest of them just aren't at this level. Bonavena was better than Brion.

Dear SaadOffTheDeck,

Excused me, but I'm not sure that Bonavena was better than Brion; I thinks Victorio Campolo, Alex Miteff, Alejandro Lavorante, Cesar Brion, Oscar Bonavena, Gregorio Peralta and Eduardo Corletti (in his prime) were at the same level...

Arturo Godoy, Mauro Mina, Jose Carattoli and Angel Rodriguez must to be in the Hall of Fame..., and others too

I'm an Argentinian...

Thanks for your answer

I'd disagree on accomplishments, but I haven't actually seen brion fight so i shouldn't say it so assuredly.

Mina is a very unappreciated fighter. If any of the other guys you've mentioned would make a ballot it would probably be in 3075.

I wrote in Cesar Brion. Why wasnt in the count ?
An argument could be made on who was better Brion or Bonavena.
One of my personal credentials to get my vote is how the fighter carried himself outside of the Ring. Brion got my vote. He was an impressive fighter who fought ranked members consistantly and was succesful.
Alot of people feel that a fighter has to wear a crown to garner the elite status HOF'er. It is ridiculous today the number of title belts being thrown around by the various assns.Wait 10 years when all these names can be voted on.
If you throw away the title belt criteria and vote on a fighters record vs his various opponents (titles or not) at their prime, then you can add a slew of non-title holdering fighters to your personal eligible list along with the older day champs, like Jersey Joe Walcott who I voted for.. Thats what I do.
Others voters agree or they dont. Thats all.

He said at the top of the thread that only those fighters listed were eligible.

No problem, I was bummed because Duran would have been eligible for an open ballot.
