Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
Things are getting far too stagnant. Another 10 weeks of the season will take forever. I want to echo the commissioner's thoughts and bring the curtain down slightly earlier.
Feel free to tell me to stfu.. I don't care!

I have a feeling you're right Jai, maybe a few changes are in order next season? One fighter per manager, less titles etc?
Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
less titles is not the answer, I think the fact the Titles have been unified for so long this season is the problem. It means only a handful of fighters get a shot at the titles with plenty never even getting a look in, and that makes for a long and boring season...
Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
Completely agree, and the reason I dropped titles to liven it up.Marlin wrote:less titles is not the answer, I think the fact the Titles have been unified for so long this season is the problem. Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
Not entirely sure. Maybe we could split the managers over two weight divisions, e.g. SMW & LHW, then we all have a good chance of having a title-contender. Not only that, but maybe it could be sorted that later on in the season, fighters could go up a division to try and be a double-weight champion (if dominant enough).kevo wrote:I have a feeling you're right Jai, maybe a few changes are in order next season? Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
How 'bout 5 commish choice weeks
Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
How about 5 GBP choice weeks?
Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
Perhaps changes do need to be made, however less titles means less opportunity for big fights. And as for having 1 fighter per manager, that would decrease managers interest in the Sim.kevo wrote:maybe a few changes are in order next season? One fighter per manager, less titles etc?
Instaed I would propose eahc manager having 3 fighters! That would be sure to put Managers under pressure to come on to the sim and make fights for their fighters.

Maybe the reason you are feeling this way is because the land has been layed. We all know who the best fighters are, and who the underachievers are. There aren't gonna be many surprises left in the season.jBacca wrote:Things are getting far too stagnant. Another 10 weeks of the season will take forever.
I always tend to feel that way after about 20 or so weeks into a season... Things do dry up, it's just the way of things.
It's gonna be practically impossible to keep a season f resh after 30 or so fights. Of course there will be long-awaited grudge matches and final showdowns but that is th height of it.
Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
This idea is not sold on me. Maybe one season we could try this, but not yet. Haviing 2 weight divisions means more rankings and more work for the commish.jBacca wrote:Not entirely sure. Nah, I don't think that we are there just yet.
Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
For once Marlin and I are agreed. Having the titles unified means that there are less oportunities for title shots.Marlin wrote:I think the fact the Titles have been unified for so long this season is the problem. What about rules being put into place to prevent title shots to early.
Like:
No unifications before week 15 or 20? or maybe Titles can only be unified in weeks in the 5 factor (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 ,30 ,35 ,40)
Or, if you don't want to work with the numbers... How about:
A Champion can't aim for a unification until he defends his title 3 times?
Or howabout 5 times?

And maybe more tournaments, apart from the Millionaire tournament there are no tourneys, except when people retire and managers are scavaging for a dropped fighter. Like the Gavilan tournament.
There could be 3 prizefighter tournaments a year? Maybe every 10 weeks?
It will just liven the place up and managers know that they have something to look forward to, even if they aren't ranked in the top 10.

What you think Detroit, should Prizefighter tournaments be introduced?DetroitHxC wrote:I don't feel it's gone stagnant, I think people have just stopped trying.
Or maybe sanctions on Unified fights, like you have to defend 5 times before unifying.

With 4 major titles. IBO could maybe be awarded as part of the first unification and continue throughout the season to follow the linear champion

Nar man, If I beat SRL I'm dropping them all (apart from 1).DetroitHxC wrote:Jai, STFU. You're just saying that because you have all the titles and are trying to end the season holding them all. I don't feel it's gone stagnant, I think people have just stopped trying.

I think it's a good idea, but the majority rules, so whatever that turns out to be.

Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
I'd prefer it to be the full whack, as this is my second season, and the first didn't make it to the finish line either.
Re: Calls for an ending to proceedings at week 35!
The problem with this idea is that the IBO title and the linear champion are different things.JDC wrote:ThisCrease wrote: have to defend 5 times before unifying.![]()

I say that we keep the IBO as a 5th world title, alongside the other 4 major titles.
Maybe tournaments could be introduced. And maybe something for the linear champion? Though if the lineal/lonsdale championship is sanctioned it makes the other major world titles rather pointless, so I wouldn't be in favour of that.

Well the 40 week season was the overwhelming choice on the first poll, so unless there's an updated tally taken, we'll stick with that.

I've decided to end it at 35. Seems about right for this season.

40 is the absolute maximum, but not the mandatory! New season will spark new life!glittermonkey wrote:
