I simply think that Rahman is shot to the degree where someone like Fury can beat him convincingly.exittored wrote:Rahman is there for the taking no doubt but what exactly has Fury ever done that makes you think he's the man to do it apart from beating a bunch of nobodies and having 2 life and death struggles with the only half decent boxer he's ever faced?crusader wrote:I'm expecting a one-sided Fury win as well. Having said that i do expect the younger, fresher hungrier boxer to prevail more due to Rahman being on the slide for a few years now then because Fury is something special.
Tyson Fury vs Hasim Rahman on the Khan card?

Re: Tyson Fury vs Hasim Rahman on the Khan card?
Terrific match-up! Fury's biggest issue so far has been his conditioning - when he's struggled in fights, it's been because of his condition letting him down and turning his form ragged - and everyone wants to see whether a prospect's got the chin, heart and concentration to make it at the top. Rahman's faded, but he's still got the punch to test Fury's chin and the nouse to negate Fury's flashier stuff if Fury lets him. Can't wait to see how Fury does. I predict a decision win for the big dude, as he's yet to show serious power, but a stoppage would really prove something, not least to the American networks whom I think he would really appeal to.
That said, I'll be gutted if the lanky sod turns up and looks knackered after four rounds again.

Are we still gonna be asked to throw money at it though, that's the question

Warren's bills have been very poor recently, so I don't think this is the time for you to be making comments like that.boxingchat wrote:Awful bill and it's not gtting my money thrown into it. These people couldn't promote the second coming.
Re: Tyson Fury vs Hasim Rahman on the Khan card?
I think this is a great match up and a big test for Fury. I am not sold on Fury and I think he will do very well to beat Rahman in convincing fashion. A stoppage victory would be impressive and Rahman has always carried enough one punch power to knock opponents out cold, while Fury hasn't.
Re: Tyson Fury vs Hasim Rahman on the Khan card?
Rahman, whilst it was one of the most pityful offensive displays I have ever seen took a beating against Klitchsko. He showed terrific resiliance to last 7 rounds that night, he took his lumps against Maskaev, Tua and Toney also.
Yeah - he is not Rocky Marciano - he can get KO'd..... but he is tough and I cannot see Tyson taking him out early, alot will depend on how brave his corner are.

Just to add he's only ever really been beaten fairly by Lewis, Maskaev(who seems to have his number) and Klitschko(only had 2 weeks notice).stujones wrote:Rahman, whilst it was one of the most pityful offensive displays I have ever seen took a beating against Klitchsko. I agree that he was pathetic against Klitschko...maybe he wasn't in the best shape but at least he could have let his hands go for a couple of rounds rather then passively succumbed to 7 rounds of being jabbed.
He was unlucky in his other losses and draws.
He should have 2 wins over Tua, he was easily beating Tua in the first first and got knocked down from a punch after the bell and only recieved 1 minute to recover which was ridiculous and i thought i clearly won the rematch by a couple rounds. He was also unlucky not to get the win over Toney in their first fight as he seemed to do enough to win.
He was Headbutted into Oblivion by Holyfield and bear hugged the whole fight by Ruiz so i don't count them as real losses.

Fury has already fought good British opposition by fighting McDermott twice and he is also waiting for his shot at Chisora.liamlion wrote:Exactly! Why shouldn't he fight Rahman now? This is a good international opponent.
I think it would be good if other British prospects fought similar international opponents, as well as good domestic opposition, like Fury has been doing.

He will fight Chisora this year, Price has McDermott and Sexton, Rogan and Audley are keeping things very low key at the momeny, so how would Fury get these guys?Horse wrote:Fury has already fought good British opposition by fighting McDermott twice and he is also waiting for his shot at Chisora.liamlion wrote:Exactly! On short notice this is a really good fight for him, good name on his record if he wins and he'll likely get some solid rounds in, great prepartion, much better than what Price has fought of late.

Maybe it's the cynic in me but i think once a domestic fighter takes on a fighter like this they're suddenly a 'class above' the domestic rivals and therefore don't need to fight the domestic rivals. I really though DeGale was going to follow the same path as Khan by taking on a faded fighter then try and avoid Smith & Groves (along with other rivals) and go for an easy world title. Hats off to him for taking the hard route.iwz678 wrote:He will fight Chisora this year, Price has McDermott and Sexton, Rogan and Audley are keeping things very low key at the momeny, so how would Fury get these guys?Horse wrote:Fury has already fought good British opposition by fighting McDermott twice and he is also waiting for his shot at Chisora.liamlion wrote:Exactly! Will Disagree on some of these - Ruiz instigated the attacks - its up to Rahman to get out of the holding, its within the rules (at the Referee's discretion) and its a part of a fighters style. Nothing wrong with Holding.
Holyfield was dirty, but he well won that one.... also I think he was a tad lucky to get a draw and a NC vs Toney - should have been two losses.
Agree on the Tua one.

Re: Tyson Fury vs Hasim Rahman on the Khan card?
But the fact remains there's no credible British opponent available for the date. Sexton is the only one even vaguely possible but can you really see FW lending him to help save a Khan bill?
Assuming Fury beats Rahman the BBBofC have ordered the fight with Chisora for the British to happen before July can't see why he'd walk away from that at this stage.

I'll be happy if i'm proved wrong but there are plenty of reasons for him not to take the fight. Someone's 0 will have to go and he'll want more of the purseJ-C wrote:But the fact remains there's no credible British opponent available for the date. To be honest if Fury was that keen to avoid the British rivals they'd find a way Rahman or no Rahman. Otherwise the Brits are surely the biggest money fights out there for him at the moment.

It would be a cracker if it happened, as would a lot of the domestic clashes at the top weight.
You just never know with some people these days, hopefully they'll both be pushing for the fight in July but they'll find it fairly easy to manouvre themselves into title contention, especially if Haye loses

Notice that the PPV was being given the biggun on Sky Sports News this morning, couple of adverts. Does this mean they've decided against turning it in to a regular non PPV show I wonder? They were discussing that, from what I hear. If they're going ahead with it as a PPV I'm assuming they must have a decent undercard fight to bolster the weak (by the PPV standards of the rest of the world) main event.

Re: Tyson Fury vs Hasim Rahman on the Khan card?
Do the Khan camp have a say in whether this remains PPV or not? I can't imagine why sky would want this to remain, especially as they know it won't do well. The Khan camp however, might want to keep him on PPV no matter what as it's a status sign and something to show to the Yanks when he does a deal with them.
Re: Tyson Fury vs Hasim Rahman on the Khan card?
Not sure if it will do all that badly. Casual fans or general sports fans don't care about an undercard. Khan is a big name, coming off a potential FOTY against an Irish unbeaten Euro champ. Bit of build up, can't see it being a complete failure at all.

Khan hasn't done well on PPV before though has he? I thought it was around the 100,000 - 200,000. I don't think the casual fans really follow him that much. He has his hardcore base but he's not really grown the fanbase.
A lot of people i know who have a passing interest don't seem to care about what he's up to. They've moved on to Haye & DeGale

Re: Tyson Fury vs Hasim Rahman on the Khan card?
But his past fights PPV's were against people like Prescott, Salita, and some before he got his title. I think the Irish fanbase and someone seen as more of a legit contender will help.
