Fair enough. I couldn't see any corner letting their boxer go back into a fight in the fourth round with a broken nose that was caused by a headclash.

With a big title on the line, I might have been tempted to go on.

A broken nose is a nightmare though - the lack of proper breathing is the main problem but your eyes will start to swell up aswell. Derry should get a rematch out of this so the title is still there.

I agree, mine's been broken 7 times.

That Hernandez-Cunningham fight was a horrible decision!!! I know its what you expect for hometown fighters in Germany but thats ridiculous. The cut didn't look that bad, didn't see them put one swap on it, and conveniently after 6 rounds the corner are calling the doctor up to have a look at it.

I haven't seen the fight but I'm presuming Campillo didn't receive the victory he deserved?

Hernandez's corner knew that the fight was slipping away (or at least it should've been had the judges been competent). The cut was under control and not getting any worse.

Cunningham had more than his bit of luck - Vann gave him a 20 second count in the first and that was definitely a deliberate butt that opened the cut. You could tell from the replay that braced and was watching where he landed.

See, I'm glad you said that, because I was going to post along the same lines but I'd've ended up posting something potentially far more libellous.

To be fair, the second cut did occur in the 6th round. That didn't look as bad, but in a worst position. It may have been a combination of the two the saw Micky Vann (remember it was his call) stop the fight.

Micky Vann was a tad fortunate that Hernardez is now so gun shy since the Braithwaite fight..... cause there was no way Cunnigham was in a position to continue after the KD. Micky Vann had to physically pull him to get him to look at him. He was in cloud cukoo land. Hernandez took a few rounds to stop a won legged Helenius in a very strange fight, that how shell shocked he fights these days. Helenius warranted a rematch also, but didn't get it.... so I think Cunnigham's post fight interview might be on the money.

I do agree though, I do feel team Hernandez were looking for a points verdict, but ultimately it is Vann's call.... if they asked for the fight to be stopped - then it is a pull out and Cunnigham wins.
