allegedly Schedule 2011
allegedly Schedule 2011
Right, here i go again, moaning about allegedly.
When FW announced this channel, he promised to live cards every week. I have just been on the website and looked at the schedule and after this weekend (tonights bill included) it already looks like they are down to 1 show a week.
I have never had an intention of subscribing and this has more than confirmed it for me.
Thoughts?

Give them a chance, mate. You need to judge them over 6-12 months. There will always be ups and downs.

But at the press conference they promised 2 cards a week, advertising it as almost £1 a show.Ezzard wrote:Give them a chance, mate. You need to judge them over 6-12 months. There will always be ups and downs.
This is a big tme for the channel to prove they've got what it takes, surely they should be pulling out all the stops. First no Virgin now this.
Strange thats all. I think FW has bitten off more than he can chew with this channel and the promises he has made

Re: Allegedly channel Schedule 2011
I've been watching closely to see if the "two live shows a week" turned out to be true or bollocks. So far they have been consistent, on average, but it does depend on expectations; ie, most British fans might prefer a live show every Friday and Saturday night, which has happened a few times (eg, this particular weekend), but they might add something like Donnaire vs Narvaez in the middle of the night, which is not much use for armchair fans unless you want to stay up all night or tape it, however it does keep their figures in line, broadly speaking, with the "two live shows a week" claim.
For instance, this weekend there are technically three live shows - tonight's, tomorrow's British show, and Bute vs Johnson live from Canada.
I'm not going to defend whatshisname as I am far from his biggest fan however, so far they don't seem to have dropped too far from the claim of two live shows a week, on average. Hopefully this will continue![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Agree with pretty much all of that Jim, i'm talking about after this weekend according to the schedule on the website, this is the last weekend of the year with 2 shows i thinkJimJim2009 wrote:I've been watching closely to see if the "two live shows a week" turned out to be true or bollocks. But you pay upfront for 12 months I believe. If after 6 months you are noty happy will they refund? I think shey should do it on a month by month basis like ESPN.
Re: Allegedly channel Schedule 2011
Really? Is that confirmed. I'd not heard that. If that's the case, I can't see it being too attractive an option. Particularly if it starts in December - who would want to commit to payments during a month when there is effectively a 2 week shutdown and with no cards scheduled for 2012?Riddim wrote:Ezzard wrote:Give them a chance, mate. Looking at the upcoming schedule, I'd say they'll cover next Friday's Halifax show; McKenzie vs Evans for the Commonwealth title, and Enzo Maccarinelli on the undercard.
The following Friday it'll be Selby vs Simpson from the York Hall.
The following Friday, Warren has a card scheduled for Glasgow with Crolla vs Limond advertised as the main event.
As these shows are in the run up to allegedly becoming a pay channel, you'd expect there to be a bumper addition to what we already know about. I heard Warren was planning a big December promotion, he usually has one a couple of weeks or so before xmas.
It would be interesting to know if it is cheaper for him to purchase rights to televised shows from overseas, than hire a broadcast crew to attend a British show that otherwise would not get televised/broadcast. From a business perspective, the more cheap live shows he can run, the better his profit margins. Obviously the whole thing will die a sorry death if he doesn't regularly have headline shows with big names, but there has to be a certain amount of, say, "fodder" shows to keep the fans interested and to live up to the "two live shows a week" claim.
Hatton TV are managing to televise, albeit on youtube, entire small hall shows. The production values are not stellar but that is to be expected. I imagine it costs a few grand a time. Personally I would love to see Warren go down this route...

Re: Allegedly channel Schedule 2011
At the risk of sounding a greedy bastard, I'm wondering what next weekend's live show will be - according to their own website, it says "championship fight to be announced" on Friday 11th Nov.... they've leaving it late, now that Enzo is off the Halifax promotion this coming Friday I am less sure that this promotion will find its way onto the channel.
The channel's blurb does say "live boxing every weekend", I know we've been spoiled lately but I hope they can keep it going - far too late to stage a show, but hopefully they can purchase the TV rights to one already lined up.
Alternatively, I would happily settle for a four hour Bunce show this Friday night

Ovill McKenzie-Jeff Evans for the vacant Commonwealth light-heavyweight title, so Ovill told me a week ago.JimJim2009 wrote:At the risk of sounding a greedy bastard, I'm wondering what next weekend's live show will be - according to their own website, it says "championship fight to be announced" on Friday 11th Nov.... they've leaving it late, now that Enzo is off the Halifax promotion this coming Friday I am less sure that this promotion will find its way onto the channel.
