2012 Colorado/New Mexico Golden Gloves Regional Results

Saturday night at the Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center boxers from the Colorado and New Mexico met inside the ring to determine who would be winning a trip to Mesquite, NV for the National Golden Gloves Tournament April 30 – May 12, 2012.

One of the highly expected bordering state showdowns did not take place. That being the 178 lb fight between Las Cruces fighter Timothy Meeks and Colorado’s Derae Crane. According to Meek his opponent was deployed for military service. “I salute him for that and I appreciate his patriotism, but it’s unfortunate that we didn’t have the opportunity to fight tonight” said the Las Cruces PAL product.

Las Cruces PAL took home the team trophy. Colorado 165 lb fighter Joseph Torres Jr. was presented with the fighter of the night award. New Mexico and Colorado went 5-5 on championship bouts, including unopposed champs. Full photo gallery coming soon. Check out the results below.

Championship bout at 132 lbs Jose Salinas (LC PAL, NM) outpointed Hilario Ramirez-Medina (La Familia, CO).

Show bout: Ozzie Chavez (Sigala Boxing) outpointed Rodrigo Camarena (Vecinos Boxing).

Championship bout at 141 lbs Brian Mendoza (Atrisco Boxing Club, NM) outpointed Manuel Lopez III (Denver Police Brotherhood, CO).

Show bout: 13 year-olds at 101 lbs Joe Santillanes (USA Elite Boxing) won by RSC 1 against Adrian Arreola (Sigalas Boxing).

Championship bout at 152 lbs Giovanni Merceron (Grudge Boxing, CO) outpointed Raul Prieto (LC PAL, NM).

Championship bout at 165 lbs Joseph Torres Jr. (T’s Boxing, CO) outpointed Geraldo Quintana (School of Hard Knocks, NM).
