i mean, after Tommy Hearns who's my shoe-in at 1.

Arguello (some might call him pure slugger, personally i think his skills were better than that...sheesh, it's not his fault he had feet that looked like they were encased in concrete block, but, but, but, you do realise you don't have to have cute feet to be considered a skillful boxer, right? some don't, CF people talking about Zab judah's 'skills'. but i digress..)

Hearns is the obvious one. McCallum. Arguello, although his footwork made him look like his boots were laced together at times, his punch placement and choice of shots was fantastic. DLH or Norris? Wlad in his current guise is pretty effective.

I don't consider Sanchez, Morales, or Leonard to be punchers. Sure they were great boxers, but punchers?

I don't consider Zarate a great boxer and neither Rosario nor Trinidad. They punch with authority but they were not by any means great boxers.

For me Joe Louis, SRR, Hagler, Wilfredo Gomez, and Hearns for me.

Not sure if we are talking about the same here. I meant Sugar Ray Leonard not Benny Leonard. Now if you consider Leonard "Sugar" to be a puncher I would like to know what is your criteria for a puncher. Because for me Leonard was a decent puncher but by no means a great puncher. Yes he punch with accuracy and great timing but not with enough authority if you ask me. Nowhere close to the likes of Louis, Hagler, Duran (at lightweight), or Gomez.

Leonard could turn a fight around with his punching power . . .that to me signifies enough power to call someone a 'boxer-puncher.'
