Re: curtis woodhouse V shayne singleton
I get where you are coming from now, Woodhouse fought Gavin, others did not, understand, Woodhouse put up a great performance to push a higher level fighter, but who is to say Tyrone Nurse would not have excepted it as well, also remember Woodhouse career was going nowhere at the time, so he would have took on anyone at that time, Nurse was unbeaten at the time, so risks were not needed to be taken at that time, I think you will see Nurse in some big fights in the near future and Woodhouse has done great to turn his career around, so fair play to him.bripez wrote:I mentioned Frangie Gavins name in the context of this thread - ie. Chris Aston was complaining about lack of opportunities.ta596 wrote:I think you will find Naji and Nasser already excepted a fight with Frankie, though illness ruled out Nas, that was when Frankie had no title, don't know why Frankies name was brought up in the first place anyway ? Ask most welters would they fight Frankie for his British title ? Most would jump at it, Tyrone is a LW so you should ask would he fight the LW british champ ? I bet he would, anytime. Not all fighters avoid more difficult matches, sometimes, if they are talented they can't get 50/50 match ups or step up fights, unless they have big promoter with big pockets and Tyrone and Nas are very talented, very.bripez wrote:Question for Chris Aston and Saf - if your lad was offered a fight with Frankie Gavin would you take it ?
The Tyrone Nurse situation is a strange one - by all accounts he is a talented lad, so I don't understand why he is fighting the people he is fighting (particularly if he is a good ticket seller - surely his management should get him better fights).
I understand the concept of starting your career fighting journeymen to build a bit of a record and also the boxers confidence, but there must be a cut off point and surely after twenty odd fights he should have fought somebody ? (excluding the Prizefighter).
The way I see it, this can have 2 possible effects - either the boxer gets used to getting things all his own way and when he does eventually step up and his opponent fights back then he might not react as you would hope.
Also, there is the confidence issue - does his management have confidence in the lad, and also does the lad think that his management have confidence in him (if so, why not get him proper learning fights) ?
The way he is going he could have over 30 fights and be nowhere near a British title.
Just looking at the schedule on this site, after all his comments by his dad, Tyrone Nurse has a Central Area fight next - a good move you might think, until you see that his opponent has a record of 7-2 and has lost his last 2 fights !!
Woodhouse (who himself is a Light Welter) accepted a fight against Gavin, I just asked if others looking for opportunities would do the same.
I cannot comment about Nasser (who is listed on this site as a Light Middle) - all I know is he hasn't fought Gavin and Woodhouse has.
I am also not saying that "fighters avoid more difficult matches" but it is clear that their management do or put obstacles in the way.

Re: curtis woodhouse V shayne singleton
I find it hard to believe that everyone has been ducking Tyrone Nurse. Everyone.
I mean.... he's looked good when I've seen him but he's not a murderous puncher, you'd not worry so much about your lad getting hurt, would you?
Seems to me like his management are just useless in all honesty, and want everything in their favour before they'll put him in.
How else could you explain a 20+ - 1 record, yet he's not ventured anywhere near championship class yet? Been a pro several years....
He doesn't have to fight every journeyman from John O'Groats to Land's End before he can be thrown in.

Not quite 100% Mine held upJLP wrote:That last sentence clears it up for me. Honestly, every single person who was posting on the round by round thread had problems, especially towards the very end. Nobody could say how the fight had finished for sure. That's why I doubted the 15% number because 100% of those posting on the Boxrec round by round topic had problems but most did have intermittent images, so hadn't lost it totally. I'm not trying to be a knob, like I said earlier, I genuinely want the application to work, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. It's just constructive criticism that you can feedback to ROK so they don't let you down again next time.d wrote:Sorry if u don't believe what I say mate.JLP wrote:Really? I think whoever gave you that stat is flat out bullshitting you, but that's just my opinion. Everybody who was posting on the round by round topic had issues. Any way, like I wrote back then, I like the idea and want it to work for you, teething problems are to be expected. I'll buy again.
But those are the analytical review info that we have.
We had great figures, and yes people had problems.
But the total that lost the main event from iPhone, android and website was 15%.
That's the number that lost it totally,we don't have numbers regarding problems but still viewed it.
@Paullow, yes, you can buy the fight and watch it on the website. You don't need smart phones or tablets or gizmos.

Both we're celebrating at the end, Farrel was on breen's head, then all of a sudden he slumped into the chair in corner. Didn't have oxygen at 1st and seemed ok then he fell to the floor and it was described as looking like a seizure, he then had oxygen mask on and was rushed onto a stretcher. What an absolute warrior, took some heavy shots and kept going forward. Fingers crossed there's no long term damage.

Re: curtis woodhouse V shayne singleton
