I can't imagine an Ali fight being any more unwatchable than his fight with Holmes. Ali had about as much fight in the tank as a comatose 70 year old, and Holmes just jabbed him all night. Until finally Dundee stopped the unwatchably pathetic shell of Ali from embarassing himself any further.

How about Ali and the wrestling dude that laid on the canvas the whole time?

What a high point in sport that was.

Ali was involved in quite a few stinkaroos, wasn't he?

Yeah that was Antonio Inoki, I watched a few minutes of that once, and I had enough of it pretty quickly.

Though I don't think anything could top Tubbs/Page.

I never saw Tubbs/Page, from what Saad has said I gotta assume it's Byrd/Williamson except it was scheduled for 15 instead of 12...so it was 20% worse.
Imagine Byrd/Williamson with hairy bouncing moobs. That fight sucked so bad Fox stopped televising Boxing until, I believe, Tyson/Mathis.

I'll take your word for it that it was as awful as you say. I have no intention of seeking out footage of the fight to watch it.

You're a wise man. I'd watch Byrd/Williamson twice before I'd endure that again.

Samuel Serrano v. Miguel Vazquez deserves a mention.

A thread involving boring fights (with a different question) was just started, so I thought I'd resurrect this one to provide some candidates for the other thread.

Matt W wrote:Not most boring ever but Hopkins-Dawson, Eastman & Calzaghe were boring as hell. Sure there's a few more Hopkins fights I could include as well....

For a generally exciting fighter Pacquiao was boring vs Mosley.
I quite enjoyed Calzaghe v Hopkins

robin reid and a french bloke in brentwood - they must have touched gloves to apologise to the other fighter 30 times before the end of 10 rounds. they clearly did not wish to actually throw meaningful punches at each other. i hate reid.

Had my then-wife watch Tubbs-Page for me and give me a report. Couldn't bring myself to watch it. Boy, was she mad. Said it was crap and boring as hell. Kinda expected it would be. Still can't bring myself to check it out on YouTube.
One boring fight I'll never forget was Billy Dibbs vs Steven Luevano. Dibbs fought like Luevano was the second coming of Arguello. Scared to death. Couldn't drink my beer fast enough to get through that one.

Worst fight I ever sat through was a Lupe Pintor title defense against a guy named Jose Uziga. Pintor chased and Uziga ran. And Uziga had no seeming talent whatsoever besides this incredible ability to dart, duck, hold, clutch and then run some more. Fifteen rounds of nothing. One judge scored it 150-126 it was so ridiculously one sided.

Rover, your memory served you better than mine. I was trying to forget it anyways. Luckily for us both, there seems to be no readily available footage for us to relive it.

I have it, actually; ABC with Cosell on the call. Awful fight.

From memory, I can only remember Nelson shrugging his shoulders for 12 rounds! :witzend: :o :DDD

That's true. :OhYes:

Akinwande was pathetic during that fight.

I thought he was trying to put himself forward to be the first Mrs Lewis; he was grabbing onto Lewis so much. :oo

It really concerns me that I think Tubbs/Page was a pretty good fight.

Never saw it. From what I'd read, never wanted to. Hmmm...

It's certainly not an 'action fight', but there's fast hands, some nice technique and a bit of Ali-style gesticulating along the way. I honestly don't see how most of Floyd Mayweather's 12 rd UDs could be considered any more entertaining, but of course Floyd is fashionable and messrs Greg and Tony aren't.

Now Tubbs/Witherspoon was fun, surely we can all agree on that?
