Fights where both guys got charged with homicide?

Post by zorndeslammes »

Watching Vincente Mosquera's fight on Telemundo from a couple weeks back, I remembered his layoff was because he, well, probably killed a dude in Panama and went to prison. Of course, he's still alive, and its his opponent from his most notable bout who goes down in the history books as being the more notorious killer (Edwin Valero). So with all the people who have done dirt in boxing, has there ever been another fight where both people had been legally charged/convicted of manslaughter/murder/etc?

Monzon must have faced someone who fits the script....maybe in the early days?

Butler, Jo-El Scott, Pedro Estrada and Durelle would be other candidates to investigate if an opponent was charged.

Jeff Merritt and Roy Williams? Those men have a colourful crime sheet between them.

And if Don King promoted - You could maybe have a triple.

Ron Lyle shot and killed someone and served a long stretch inside. Whilst inside he nearly died after being knifed in an attack. He boxed while in prison so there's a fair chance he faced another murderer but I don't know.

He lost to Oscar Bonavena, who was we know, was murdered.

Tim "Doc" Anderson is another heavyweight who ended up inside for murder.
