Post by johnnykayo »

me and a pal were talkin about hatton and i mentioned he was up to fight neary many years ago before shea retired,so it went onto who would of won that ! in my opinion i think shea would of beat hatton,it would of been a great fight and explosive as both could punch. i would like to hear other fans opinions of who would of got the decision ? :box:

Neary was a good, tough fighter, but Hatton was a different level and would have stopped him late.

Hatton wins an entertaining fight although I think neary could possibly do him at welter.

I'd of love to seen hatton v ward or gatti

I think there was time where they could have nearly met. Would have been a really good fight. Neary and Hatton had similar styles loved to bang to the body loved to work on the inside.

Neary was one good punch away from stopping Micky Ward in two rounds. He beat Eamon Magee too.

If Micky Ward could stop Neary, then so would the Ricky :box:

Hatton - in a competitive but not close fight (something like Calzaghe vs Brewer)... with Hatton's body shots forcing a mid to late stoppage.

Just to quick handed, too much energy.

I'd say ward is naturally more heavy handed then hatton. Ricky had unbelievable output & had good force behind each shot.

People seriously underestimate Ricky. He barely lost a round on the way up. A British great.

My grandad taking me to see shea neary got me into boxing but i think realisticly Ricky would of been a different level , but he would of been a better opponent than many of Rickys WBU defenses!

Rumour has it that Andy Holligan fought Neary with a busted rib sustained from sparring a fledgling Hatton.

What is next, Ricky v Mark Winters, who wins?

The fact that this is even being discussed shows how criminally underated Ricky is. Bar the comeback, he lost to the two best fighters of the last decade, that's it.

I really wonder what's peoples opinion would have been of Calzaghe if he had stopped pretending he was scared of flying and gone and got his ass kicked by Jones and Hopkins at their peak

This is very true.

Neary v Thaxton would have been a good fight had they over-lapped.

Hatton was an incredible talent who was kept on the leash 3 maybe 4 fights too long.

I really liked the Shamrock Express, one of my fave fighters growing up...

But people should ask, would Neary have beaten Kostya Tszyu????

Amen.

Fun fight for four rounds. Hatton would have murdered him in a Jamie Redknapp 'literally' kind of way.

Holligan was tough and a good British fighter (see J C Chavez fight) but to even walk/talk/breath freely with a broken rib with strapping round your mid-riff is hard enough, never mind fight anyone.

Shea Neary every day of the week. Except Fridays and Saturdays. And a few of the other days.
