Yep just to share sentiments of that last post. I wish both Watt and Haling well but I just don't like their delivery. It's nothing personal and good luck to them but as a paying subscriber I have a right to an opinion. I might be wrong it just seems that ... Well I'm not.

But in the big scheme of things we are talking about people's jobs so perhaps its unfair to call for a change, I don't know.

That's your reaction to it & probably a lot of others.i like watt but then I hate him when he wines about somthing he ruins the fight & I have muted him before. There's no competition for commentators I'd like two teams where you could possibly have a choice .

McDonalds teeth must make it difficult to pronounce some names. The bit that gets me with him is the "speed up and lower his voice" classic as he introduces the fighters. Can`t understand a word he is saying.

Several times I have paused the broadcast so I can fast forward past his "It`s fight night..LIVE". The growl on "Live" causes me actual pain.

McDonald is like a 3rd rate bingo caller out of Phoenix Nights - just terrible.

Halling is a dull journeyman - plus he unforgivably gives out spoilers. Which is bad news ( and he's been rightly called out on this by Glyn @ boxing monthly ) a space filler that's all.

I agree with Watt now getting a bit tired, he was a great commentator but seems to be past his best - but could improve massively if one of the bosses tells him to stand back a bit and be a bit more open-minded, like he used to be.

Ian Darke was class, a massive loss and someone needs to get him back on the boxing.

If they can fly a clown like Michael Buffer around the world to add to the fights, they can certainly afford Ian Darke.

Watt has good days and bad days for me, gives some decent insight sometimes but occasionally throws in a shocker where he decides something is happening early on and then clings doggedly too it despite the opposite unravelling in front of his eyes.

Halling is just genuinely spoiling fights for me now, absolutely terrible. Sorry if you read this board john, but there you go .

Mike Costello is my favourite commentator but I have only heard him on the radio (Boxing and Athletics)

Would he be the same on TV?

Ps that clip is epic - the Haye vs Valuev commentary in the last round is also superb

Mike Costello is very good but I wonder if he could become a bit boring? He's very matter of fact. That's good in terms of knowing what you need to know but I wonder whether he could be a bit on the dull side. I havent listened to him enough over the years to make a judgement to be fair.

I know Darke is doing the footy for bt sport but sky really need to get him back regularly doing the boxing. Halling is the worse i've listened too. Thought Clarke was ok on the ggg bill and Macklin was surprisingly superb. But for me the dream team would be Darke & Smigga.

Wonder how much Al Bernstein costs? Remember he did the first few bills for Channel 5.

Remember people calling for John Rawling to do TV work when he was the voice of boxing on five live for years, so maybe it won't be effective to bring in Costello.

Watt is the still the man, sometimes I have to thing twice that he was a boxer and one hard hard man.... so articulate both in appearance and voice.

Sad to say it for the guys concerned, but yeh I agree with this thread.

Especially Halling, I haven't taken to him since he started, very cheesy and cliched delivery and not my cup of tea at all.

Jim Watt, I sometimes like him, sometimes hate him, I think he has a place on the team but they should alternate more often with other co-commentators.

Michael Buffer's routine is as cheesy as they come but bar the "Darren Baker" farce you rarely see him making mistakes.

Been making loads of mistakes recently.... Called the Sturm vs soliman fight wrong and adamek vs Cunningham.

Jimmy Lennon jnr is the man. Don't think I've ever heard him make a mistake. I like Thomas trieber also. Clearly mimics Lennon, but that ain't a bad call. Genuine fight fan also, he's a half decent commentator.

Would love to see sky poach Rosenthal.... He could do the presenting and the commentating with watt. All we need is the old music and it would be the good old days again.

Going to be a bit controversial here and say that I thought Adam smith was getting better until he cut down on his on screen stuff. Now wrong with enthusiam.

I like Watt to be honest. I don't really let commentators/pundits annoy me, nothing we can really do so I just enjoy the fights. Nelson and Spencer are good and seem genuine. From the younger lot, Moore, Bellew and Smith are all very good IMO.

Not in your case but i does seem to be almost fashionable to dislike pundits and commentary teams, same thing happens every time a football match is on all over twitter.

I have more time for Halling because if he had a better commentator beside him he could be good. Jim Watt is awful, he is too biased. I would welcome a trial with Ed Robinson and either Spencer Oliver or Jamie Moore doing the commentary for the fights.

I like the intro's but I like them short, atmospheric and all about the boxers.

The American guys who called the Froch v Taylor fight were excellent for me. That last round was EPIC.

Froch, does he have it in him....punches in bunches and it`s over. I`m coming back to England Mom and I`m keeping my title.

Yeah same here, an example of how when commentary is at it's best, you remember it along with the action itself. They think it's all over being the original!
