Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
Re: Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
No that's why Froch is trying to sell the bollox out of the fight with all this fake aggro business. Froch has fought the best in the world and none of them hjave wound him up, now all of a sudden Groves is supposed to have annoyed the shit out of him. Froch is my fave fighter of all time, but I've found this build up irritating at best
Re: Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
Hopefully in the next 5 years we get in situation where streaming becomes to the TV what napster and illegal downloading did the music industry and things tip in balance of the consumer.
Could you imagine, free boxing live on youtube, and the promoter only making money from the live event?

Eddie has now announced Martin Murray on the bill (v TBC) due to his fight being called off in Aus
Twitter is full of people complementing the large card on the 23rd
Quality not quantity I reckon - though Murray being added is a welcome addition

it depends who you follow on twitter, my TL is full of people commenting on the poor quality of the undercard.rossij8 wrote:Eddie has now announced Martin Murray on the bill (v TBC) due to his fight being called off in Aus

I see Buncey on Twitter has been backing it up as a PPV -he says the undercard is irrelevant for PPVThe_Don1 wrote:it depends who you follow on twitter, my TL is full of people commenting on the poor quality of the undercard.rossij8 wrote:Eddie has now announced Martin Murray on the bill (v TBC) due to his fight being called off in Aus

He also said all Froch's fights should be PPV

I have to disagree mate, the kid has only been beat twice. Don't you remember Calzaghe vs Tocker Pudwill!!!! that was a joke defence!!!!expe wrote:100% no, the undercard is Gethin-Crolla, Fielding against some Guyanan and Quigg is defending against Diego Oscar Silva - http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer, which is an absolute shocker of a defence, even Calzaghe usually fought against better than that.
Re: Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
Scroll down the page a bit further and see who he's fought. His last fight was against with a record of 22-7-1, has never beaten anyone decent, was knocked out in 65 seconds by Gamboa in his 5th fight and he couldn't beat him. This is just as bad as Pudwill.David McAllister wrote:I have to disagree mate, the kid has only been beat twice. His opponent is ranked 85th in the world. The fight is absolute garbage.Horse wrote:IRLangmaid25 wrote:But when you have Scott Quigg in a World title fight,

Re: Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
Anyone else noticed that Eddie always brings in these shitty south american opponents? I bet they're dirt cheap.
Re: Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
Hearn said the only way froch v groves would be ppv would be with a mega undercard. When does the rest get announced then?
Re: Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
Like Warren used to be with the Ghanaians, they'd be brought over with a reputation of being 'teak tough' and had nice looking records, but were quite frankly shite, the only difference is if the South Americans aren't unbeaten, they're likely to have been stopped, so instead they 'always come to win'.columbo wrote:Anyone else noticed that Eddie always brings in these shitty south american opponents? It's the same Matchroom fighters we get to see every other week in complete mismatches on Sky Sports through our normal susbscription... only in this case Hearn has through more of them on, Quantity over Quality to 'sell' a PPV, just throwing more sh1t on the fire..the chief support fight is an absolute joke of a mismatch for a 'world title' defence but i suppose Quigg is coming off a majority draw and said he would only call himself a world champion in the ring..which he later backtracked on cos in his opinion, he 'won' the fight... so has to look good...Martin Murray falls into Hearn's lap and is put on this show but cant see his opponent at this short notice being up to much...
I wont be buying it, as intriguing a match-up Froch v Groves has the potential to be, conceivably Froch walks right through Groves and does a Lucian Bute on him...Hearn will be hoping for his sake this fight becomes as competitive as he hopes it to be..with of course his favourite fighter emerging victorious

Scott Quigg is defending a world title against a 85th in the world ranked fighter - how does that work?

Re: Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
Despite this being a shocker of a PPV show, Eddie has been retweeting numerous people who are saying it's the best show in ages, brilliant and all kinds of other bollocks, I genuinely wonder if these people possess any brain cells.

Re: Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
IMO yes, it's one of our best super middles ever fighting the up and coming star, if it sells out in 11 minutes it's worthy of ppv
Re: Is Froch vs Groves worthy of PPV
It didn't sell out in 11 minutes though. Thousands were kept back for the undercard fighters and Froch and Groves were given large allocations as well. Of those sold, most will have gone to touts, for 3£700 or so you can buy a program that repeatedly applies for and buys tickets.jessi wrote:IMO yes, it's one of our best super middles ever fighting the up and coming star, if it sells out in 11 minutes it's worthy of ppv

Long list of fighters ppl recognise so they think its a brilliant card, the reality will become apparent on the night when there sitting through boring none competitive fights!

The poll results are looking pretty damning..

Yes true, but the question is out of the 78% of people who think it shouldn't be ppv how many will still buy it ?Final round wrote:The poll results are looking pretty damning..

Most, like voting in an election really - it shouldn't be a PPV but will be a decent enough bout; I thought the PPV model was for the Rolls Royce type bouts.jessi wrote:Yes true, but the question is out of the 78% of people who think it shouldn't be ppv how many will still buy it ?Final round wrote:The poll results are looking pretty damning..
