Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
Re: Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
He is capable of stepping up a level
His opponent looked like he hadn't trained and had put on nearly 2 stones in a month (incredible if the stats are correct)
Cannon fodder for Hughie

I heard Hughie got cut during his win on Friday (correct me if I'm wrong). I wonder if the board doctor issued him with a 28 day suspension. It is quite likely. If that is the case then he will not be able to box Danny next week.

According to twitter Peter says hes out for 28days and next out on 14th Dec in belgum for WBC world youth title he had swelling over the left eye in the post fight interview and looks like a nick (3 stiches apparently) so lets hope it heels well as he deserves to end the year with a title shot for the effort hes put in

He is certainly no world beater&i very much doubt he will ever beat fighters of the calibre his cousin has on his record
Re: Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
The 28 day rest will be good for him except he will still over trainfurther stressing a still immature body.

Re: Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
Learning to survive a cut is a good experience. If he gets to 20-0 by the end of next year and still hasn't fought a name, well I'd be fine with that. He'll only be twenty for gods sake. The furys seem to get judged a lot more harshly than other fighters.
Re: Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
Put him in with Butlin, once both their eyes heal. That will allow us to compare Joshua, Cornish and Fury. It would be a good tactic to match him with whoever Joshua beats, wouldn't it ??
Re: Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
And yet I've seen countless people opine that Hughie is going to be world class or is somehow 'legit' despite proving nothing as a pro. He doesn't get judged harshly at all based on what he's done.stevieb_8006 wrote:Learning to survive a cut is a good experience. Oh right. I haven't read those posts then. It's ridiculous for anyone to call an eighteen year old novice world classcrusader wrote:And yet I've seen countless people opine that Hughie is going to be world class or is somehow 'legit' despite proving nothing as a pro. Saying that, I don't know many other eighteen years old that would receive criticism for going 12-0 in their first year
Re: Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
I haven't seen him called world class yet, but I've seen plenty of predictions that he will end up there.
I think he's generally praised highly for someone with no notable wins.

He looked a bit tired last night, so the break to let the cut heal may do him some good.

Re: Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
It's Hughie Fury himself who's to blame for all the hype.
If you're telling all & sundry that you will be the youngest HW champ in history then you better show exceptional talent, & he isn't.
He & his camp/team/promoters are the ones comparing him to and trying to better the youngest champs Tyson or Clay. Having watched Fury 5 times this is mental and not helping his cause. He's heading for a huge fall from grace IMO.

I think he deserves credit for activity, not necessarily the competition. But hey, it's his first year and he's 18. I'm sure there's been worst matchmaking.crusader wrote:I haven't seen him called world class yet, but I've seen plenty of predictions that he will end up there.

Yeah Hughie got cut over the eye, the pics are all over Twitter and Facebook. I think it'll heal rather quickly, didnt seem to be too major of a deal. I do think, though, the WBC Youth Title is bit of a let down for me as a fan--- its a belt that has no real basis or meaning to me at least, and seems to be a short cut around the domestic level so he can get fights far and beyond his reach at the moment. I think the kid can handle himself well, but I have a bad feeling he's getting rushed maybe too fast, cus I know after he wins this stupid belt they will try and get him in with a top 50 world class fighter and see how it goes. He may win some, but at this rate, I dont know. I'd perfer he stick to the British & Commonwealth scene for bit longer.

I get what your saying but he cant win really. half think hes being rushed too fast, whilst the other half criticise his level of opposition.HomicideHenry wrote:Yeah Hughie got cut over the eye, the pics are all over Twitter and Facebook. He cannot really win? What about slowing it down a bit while increasing his level of opposition? That would deal with both criticisms.stevieb_8006 wrote:I get what your saying but he cant win really. half think hes being rushed too fast, whilst the other half criticise his level of opposition.HomicideHenry wrote:Yeah Hughie got cut over the eye, the pics are all over Twitter and Facebook. He got stopped and gave up. I suspect there had been various 'reality checks' in sparring good fighters. Just precisely who is Hughie going to beat for this fabled world title? Lolstevieb_8006 wrote:poo, whatever happened to that bloke?TerribleTerry wrote:Roman Greenburg anyone?

I'm sure that will happen as he grows tho. He only turned over in march.crusader wrote:He cannot really win? What about slowing it down a bit while increasing his level of opposition? Re: Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
I think the smart thing to do with Hughie would have been to develop him slowly under the radar having just a few pro fights a year to learn the game until he was 21/22 and fully mature physically he could then have been brought on rapidly. As it is I think Peter Fury is in danger of undermining a good thing from being too impatient.

Re: Hughie Fury still talking about being youngest world champ
Honestly, I think he could make a higher jump in quality opposition, but I think him being held back facing dubious opponents for too long will be more of a detriment to his growth mentally/emotionally as a fighter---- if he can be matched tougher, over the next few fights, then it will be healthier for him in long run, than to keep forcing these subpars on him and then BAM he lands a fight with someone who he wouldnt be exactly ready for. The young man shows alot of promise--- he can spar with anyone, and he showed that with his cousin Tyson, Cunningham and Chambers on multiple occasions; so I know in dangerous spots he can defend himself, I'd just rather not see him have to be in a hard fought struggle, when being developed better beforehand would remedy that.stevieb_8006 wrote:I get what your saying but he cant win really. half think hes being rushed too fast, whilst the other half criticise his level of opposition.HomicideHenry wrote:Yeah Hughie got cut over the eye, the pics are all over Twitter and Facebook.
