Cheap tickets for the York Hall

I am having my 5th pro fight at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, London on Saturday 16th November on the Steve Goodwin card. It's a big show with some cracking fighters on there including a few exciting heavyweights and Daley Ojuederie who was on the last Big Brother.....I'm told.

Anyway, OLBG will be sponsoring me and have put in money for some cheaper tickets for everyone. Standard tickets are £35 for the night but I've got a few at £25 if anyone from the forum would like to come along.

Top of the bill sees a Light-Middleweight title fight featuring one of the most exciting Light-Middleweights in the country “smokin” Joe Mullender. Joe hails from Brentwood in Essex and is undefeated in five fights. Joe competes for his first title the Masters in a 10 round contest.

A special attraction sees Big Brother’s Daley “Star” Ojuederie make his return to professional boxing. Daley is undefeated in four fights and has now signed with the Goodwin’s. He is an exceptional talent and takes part in a four round contest.

The big heavyweight boys are out in force: Exciting undefeated South London heavyweight AJ Carter (3-0) has his fourth professional contest.

Dominic Akinlade has knocked out his first two opponents and will be aiming to make in three from three.

Declan Timlin has won 8 from 10 contests and has a 4 round contest building up towards his first title shot.

At Cruiserweight we see the exciting debut of Aji “The General” Sharif. Don’t blink when Aji is in the ring. Aji comes from Reading in Berkshire and his only loss in the amateur ranks came to Olympic champion Anthony Joshua.

Former professional footballer Leo Roget makes his professional boxing debut at Cruiserweight.

Goodwin’s light-heavyweight prospect Remel Scott has his second professional contest agaist “the entertainer” Jody Meikle from Scunthorpe.

The Light Heavyweight division sees one of the UK's most exciting prospects Miles Shinkwin (5-0) from Bushey take part in a 6 round England v Wales contest against former Welsh title challenger Lewis Patterson.

One of the most talented light-middleweights in the country Myley Cash has his third professional contest. Myley has won both his first two including a devastating first round victory over Danny Brown in his last fight.

The light-Middleweight division sees the exciting debut on Justin Menzie who takes on Rick Boulter from Lincoln.

Also making their debuts on this action packed show are Marin Hillman at Super-Featherweight and Michael Shannon at Light-Welterweight.

The light-welterweight division sees three of the Goodwin’s prospects appearing against to be named opponents. “Showstar” Sohail Ahmad has won his first two bouts and both Brett Beadon and Rakeem “The Noble”Ashaye have won their first bouts. All three are exciting talents and have big followings.

Completing the card is Frankie Monkhouse at Light-Welterweight in a 4 round contest.

I saw Stephen Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, Bradley Pryce and Buglioni there one night last year. Are the days of that level of fighter boxing at York Hall finished now?

Think the days of big promoters using it are, seems Warren is now going the way of Hearn and having less but bigger stacked shows (some may argue he didnt have many even when was doing the small hall shows but hey thats an arguement for countless other threads).

personally I'd prefer having more smaller shows (like the old Friday Fight Night days) with one or two fights of championship standard plus prospects, and leave the arena's for the odd really big event. It did look like allegedly were going that way at first (domestically) but Sky set the precedence and it seems BN are following suit.

Thanks for the replies lads. York Hall is still the best 'small hall' show to box in, although there have been some big shows there over the years. I think most promoters see it as too small now in terms of capacity. It's steeped in history & is a must see for any die-hard boxing fan, but I do think they need a new modern venue. Warren is going down the Olympic Park route with the Handball Arena.

Looks like Walsh vs Sykes will be there next year. Maybe FW's not given up on smaller hall shows after all.
