ESPN.com wrote:David Haye's February showdown on February 8 with Tyson Fury is off after the former world heavyweight champion underwent five hours of shoulder surgery.
Doctors have advised Haye to consider retirement.
Haye said in a statement: "It's a crushing blow for me. I had big goals for next year - including winning back my world title.
"Perhaps it just wasn't meant to be. The boxing Gods keep hinting that maybe enough is enough and that it's time to finally hang up my gloves."

least it didnt happen on the week of the fight, Fury should fight Deontay Wilder in Vegas, i doubt he can draw a big crowd in the uk on his own.

Gutted for Tyson Fury 12 weeks training camp for nothing, misses out on £5million, not fight in 7 months and gave up a final eiliminator.

5 hours surgery? Could well be a career threatening injury.

That's the muscle that joins the bicep too the shoulder. He won't fight again 100%. I have this a bit worse as my muscle is away from my bone but I was told if I got the operation I wouldn't be able to compete and the shoulder would never be the same. Surprised he's went for surgery rather than trying rehabilitate or build up other muscles around it. Gutted for myself really was the fight I was looking forward too most

Gutted for Fury. Months of inactivity and the training camps. Also everyone who is left out of pocket with booking fees or hotel bills

Haye must have known this was underlying.

David Haye = the boy who cried wolf.

Feel really bad for the fans. It will give Fury time at least to get another opponent for February at least.

one thing that pisses me off is that I bought my tickets on CC and I do not have that CC any more. So where is my money going to go, im going to have fun getting it back.

Haye has cost me £100 last cancellation and now cost me £25 for booking fee for this fight too, he has a chit load of cash and proberly laughing his arse off (the laughing will be the morphine, so he won't be able to help that)

Jesus Christ.

Isn't it 3 months till the fight? Any word on postponing or is it off entirely?
From the footage of Haye's sparring before his first injury, I've got to say he seems to have been going all out in a reckless manner...maybe too intense???
