I agree; I do not think I'll forget the last few seconds of Manny v Marquez 4 or Gatti v Ruelas - when something so violent and against the run of play happens it is very shocking and memorable.

I watched Martinez-Williams II the next day...

My mate sent me a message that morning before I'd watched it saying... You MUST watch Williams-Martinez II ...and being hyper sensitive to these things I thought he'd ruined it for me, by putting Williams's name first...

I couldn't quite believe it. Williams had always seemed so durable. Martinez was really something at that time

Benitez v Cervantes deserves a shout. All too often these lists are thoroughly dominated by bouts where defense went out the window and guys just rocked and socked each other.

Trinidad vs. Vargas for me.

Honestly, i don't understand why this fight is so underated by people of this board, it was a classic and it had everything.

I understand that neither of these fighters would probly make the top 10 list of all time of anyone here, but that doesn't mean the fight itself wasn't spectacular.

Pryor v Arguello 1 is the best fight I've ever seen but then in no particular order these babies stand out for me:

Benn v McClellan

Hagler v Hearns

Holyfield v Qawi 1

Saad v Lopez 2

Chavez v Taylor 1

McAuley v Bassa 1

Hagler v Mugabi

Leonard v Hearns 1

Holyfield v Bowe 1

Barrera v Morales 1

Froch-Jermain Taylor and Chavez-Meldrick Taylor

Are super memorable because of a come from behind victory in the last round on foreign soil. That's what I probably love the most.

Didn't see live:

Why is is it that nobody ever talks about the Chacon-Boza Edwards rematch? It was a tremendous fight. Yet it never gets brought up when there is a thread about the best fights. Never understood that.

Well I haven't watched it yet actually. I just watched their first bout about a week or so ago, but I'm damn sure gonna check it out. The first fight was great, and knowing Chacon. I have no doubt the rematch will be badass as well.

I watched it live as well, it rated high on the list I did. Not quite as high as Limon IV because of the extra three rounds. I thought Boza won that fight in spite of the knockdowns.

Boza is always my first example when debating Gatti's place in the HOF. Equally exciting, more known and flat better.

Boza Edwards is as good or better than several fighters who are in the Hall of Fame. You certainly could make a decent argument that he should be in. For whatever reason, people seem to have forgotton about him.

It drives me crazy when people say Gatti's wars make him deserving and this dude would never see a ballot.

Is he still training fighters in Las Vegas? I've not seen enough of him, the one that sticks in my mind is the Hector Camacho thing; the earlier Limon and Chacon bouts I was a little young to watch. I ought to make the effort.

I honestly think they should be a special place in the pro boxing hall of fame for "blood and guts" warriors like Gatti and Chacon.

All depends on how you view boxing I suppose.

I've seen countless one sided blow outs, that were thrilling while it lasted. But then again, wouldn't that fall more under the category of being "greatest kayo you ever seen" rather than fight?
Without question, the ultimate beat down in history had to of been Dempsey/Willard, but then again that was a blow out. It was hardly competitive. So what really constitutes a "fight" then?

Best Scientific Boxing Match Ever? Best Slugfest Ever? Hard to say, there's been so many.

I mean how can you not bring up Louis/Schmeling II or Dempsey/Firpo or Foreman/Lyle, etc when it comes to epic slugfests? How can you not bring up the masterful skills of which were on display when Billy Conn was dancing rings around Louis before getting kayoed? Jersey Joe Walcott boxing to a clear decision, before getting kayoed, against Marciano? Or something more modern, when Pernell Whitaker outright beat Julio Cesar Chavez with the slickest of moves?

Maybe, when it gets right down to it, one should ask "What was the best fight, per decade?"
