Genero Hernandez, Corrales, Castillo x2, Cotto, Guerrero, Mosley, oscar, Marquez, Alvarez & maidana is a better list than Rock's.Tuan_Jim wrote:You surely have to name them now Saad. Floyd has faced a multitude of better fighters than Marciano. He eclipsed him years ago.
Marciano mopped up his best opp. We're still waiting for Mayweather to fight Pac, while hearing the same old lines from so many about how Floyd is obviously superior to Pac - while going life & death with Maidana.

Well this is subjective of course. But I'd comfortably say that:Othro wrote:Name 5 supermiddleweights who could beat Ottke.
Andre Ward, Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Roy Jones Jr, Bernard Hopkins, Joe Calzaghe, Steve Collins, Tommy Hearns, Carl Froch, Mikael Kessler
would all have beaten Ottke.
(There are some names on the above list which you might not categorise as "Super Middleweights", yet they've all fought at the weight).

James Toney tooCrease wrote:Well this is subjective of course. But I'd comfortably say that:Othro wrote:Name 5 supermiddleweights who could beat Ottke.

Don't forget Jake, down at Ace Hardware.

Hogwash I'll give Hopkins and Toney a chance because of their chin but the rest would be in danger of that right hand.Crease wrote:Well this is subjective of course. But I'd comfortably say that:Othro wrote:Name 5 supermiddleweights who could beat Ottke.

What "right hand"?Othro wrote:Hogwash I'll give Hopkins and Toney a chance because of their chin but the rest would be in danger of that right hand.
You do realise that Sven has only won six fights inside the distance during his whole career? This proves that he's NOT a heavy hitter.
And in his entire professional record, he has only won by KO three times. (Mundine, Crawford & Nardiello) - further proof that he's not a concussive puncher.
Re: Who was the greatest undefeated fighter of all time?
I always thought it was pretty common knowledge that Ottke held back to avoid hurting his opponents . Mundine frustrated him and he brought out the right hand to put him down for minutes.
Re: Who was the greatest undefeated fighter of all time?
Again with Sven.
The protector of his opponent.
You are correct Sir!

This guy has to be trolling if he thinks a good chin is necessary to beat OttkeOthro wrote:Hogwash I'll give Hopkins and Toney a chance because of their chin but the rest would be in danger of that right hand.Crease wrote:Well this is subjective of course. Don't you think that Ottke is in the wrong sport to be playing the good Samaritan.Othro wrote:I always thought it was pretty common knowledge that Ottke held back to avoid hurting his opponents . Mundine frustrated him and he brought out the right hand to put him down for minutes.

Really? Would you really say "a much higher" level?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:So? Floyd has still fought a much higher level of opposition.
As a matter of interest where would you rate Ezzard Charles as a Light Heavy & a Heavyweight. Ditto for Archie Moore?
And whatabout Jersey Joe Walcott as a Heavyweight?
Whatabout Kid Matthews as a Light Heavyweight?

Re: Who was the greatest undefeated fighter of all time?
I rate Charles all time top 5 and Moore top 10. At the time they fought Marciano? Really? that's a serious question? Honestly, all time ratings are so subjective the only way to do it is on tiers. #13 might be clearly better than #14 and #14 might be 50/50 with #37. I don't see any scenario where marciano is within even 1 tier of Floyd, not even arguable. It's a wipe out.

Though he didn't remain undefeated, Julio Caesar Chavez reaching 89-0 was pretty damn impressive - or 87-0 if we say Pernell beat him. As it stands, I think Mayweather is the best fighter to date who has never seen defeat. How long or weather he maintains that remains to be seen.

Re: Who was the greatest undefeated fighter of all time?
Ottke knew he had/has serious power so why would he take that chance? Look what happened to Mundine.

Ottke aint Sugar Ray or Ezzard.Othro wrote:Robinson and Charles both admitted to holding back.
Re: Who was the greatest undefeated fighter of all time?
Okay, big deal - Sven knocked out a single opponent. And the Mundine fight was pretty late in to his career - what about his lack of a significant KO % before that fight.Othro wrote:Ottke knew he had/has serious power so why would he take that chance? Look what happened to Mundine.
Your logic is flawed.

Everyone's forgetting the original Napoleon of the Ring, Jack McAuliffe 28-0 retired undefeated as world lightweight champion in 1897.

All jokes aside I do believe Ottke's opposition was close to Lopez.
