are some of you really going with the old, "he was doing well until he got knocked out" cliché for groves?

Aye, but that doesn't mean we think Groves was gypped. If Groves could do it, several others have a chance.

I thought Froch was winning though not as far ahead as Watt had him and he wasn't dominating. Groves just wasn't doing anything until round 7. Froch boxed very well and when Groves opened up he executed him. Brilliant performance by a truly great champion.

I wanted Groves to win but Froch was the master all along. You shouldn't try and pretend.

Seriously though, he can't be knocked. People pay down his actual ability but surely that elevates his achievements even more? You hear things like flat footed, clumsy, slow, crude, when it comes to Carl but he has some great wins over some top fighters. The best way to describe Carl is awkward. He must be a nightmare to fight.

I'll be delighted when he's gone, he's had a good career, but the day Sky shut up about him and that nose is no longer on my telly will be a good one. Tough as they come, got to respect the way he's taken on all comers, but I've never liked him and never will.

My thing is not about not giving Froch credit, it is the loving in that Sky is giving Froch throughout the fight and post fight and what we will get for the next few months.

However, if you look back to this forum 6 months ago, there were posters claiming that Sky were not giving Froch his due. So maybe Sky/Watt etc are over compensating for it.

It was an evenly matched contest up until the KO. Groves is still largely unproven at world level (Froch's words).

Yep... Lewis had a decent chin, took some fierce shots in his career yet Rahmann blew him out. That shot would knock Froch himself out

if you actually took time to read some of my other posts you'll see I'm a long standing Froch sceptic. But I have to hold my hands up and say the guy is simply incredible. I follow boxing to appreciate not just great skills but great champions and he is certainly one of those.

Froch beats Ward in a 15 rounder. However, fights don't last 15 rounds these days so I've just made a totally stupid and pointless comment.

Degale leans on the ropes, which is perfect for froch. Groves does the opposite, which is why he has had some success

I think Watt overcompensated. Almost to such a point I believe someone had a stiff word with him.

Sky have done this with World champs coming to the end of their careers since I'v been watching boxing tho, and Carl's just next on that list to get the hero treatment.
