Blake needs to improve greatly to challenge kovalev. Hopefully he can. Good luck to him.

Hasn't Blake got a title? Hey this could be billed as a unification fight.

Re: Caparello vs Kovalev
I have spruiked Blake from his first fight and never once have I doubted him
He has done everything asked and won all his fights including 6 title fights
His critics are like Oliver Twist.....More More can I have More
Most of you will wake up one day and appreciate just how good a fighter Blake is.![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)
I recomended to Sam and Blake over a year ago he should fight for the Heavyweight title and at the time it would have been a walk in the park for him.
He would beat any fighter in Australia now including Lucas and Green.

Re: Caparello vs Kovalev
Unfortunately for Blake he is not entertaining and it doesn't matter how good he is or if he beats them it is how he beats them.
His style is not fan friendly and he does not ko anyone.
His fights are boring with his unorthodox style.
This is one reason why mma is taking off because people can't bore there way to victory.

Re: Caparello vs Kovalev
If this fight happens it'll be a step way too far for Blake.
Caparello doesn't have the hitting power to trouble Kovalev.
Can only see it finishing in a KO for the Russian.

Capperello beats Kovalev.
Capperello is a stylistic nightmare for a come forward puncher.

Why is that?Sweet P wrote:Capperello is a stylistic nightmare for a come forward puncher.
And more important than having the right style is having the ability to implement it well enough to beat your opponent. I haven't seen much of Caparello, but looking at his record (which is obviously an imperfect way of doing things) he's dropped rounds to several guys who are leagues below Kovalev and for his sake it's worrying to see a recent MD against Daniel Mackinnon. He also seems to have little power and I imagine that he'll find it difficult to get Kovalev's respect when he hits the Russian.
Kovalev fought a tall mover with very fast feet in Sillakh, and he quickly tracked him down and connected with big power punches. He's good at cutting the ring off and punching on the move (see him heavily drop Agnew in the second round of his last fight), so I'm not sure what Caparello offers that makes him a stylistic nightmare for Kovalev.

Aspiring Light Heavy contenders should be aware that there is another Russian beast on the horizon.
Canadian based 29yr old Artur Beterbiev 4-0-0 [4ko's] is starting to make his mark.
He is due to fight in Quebec 22/8/14 V TBA
He has a decision over Kovalev in the ams.
Kovalev's amateur record 195-18
Beterbiev 2009 World's gold medal. L/HW

Acid test for Caparello. If he gets past Kovalev he is truly world class. This guy can hit!!crusader wrote:Fight is official now.

Fight tomorrow.
I can see Caparello going rounds if he focuses on survival, but it's hard to see him winning.

You and I both know Caparello was clearly beaten by Daniel MacKinnon, do you not think that Kovalev is a good step better than Daniel?Sweet P wrote:Caparello beats Kovalev.

I think Kovalev is too good for Caperello. I also like tyo see how twelve rounds of lead hand backhanding goes with an international ref.
Caparello shown up and embarrassed, tomorrow, however, we will see.

mma cant bore their way to victory? are you kidding me? 4 whole minutes can pass and the two fights can get away without moving a foot. soon as it goes to ground its faster watching paint dry!
Re: Caparello vs Kovalev
The McKinnon fight was close. And Blake will need to improve on that performance. He has been doing a lot of sparring and training in the USA with world class fighters over the past 12-18 months and I think Sam Labruna will have a good game plan worked out.dberry wrote:You and I both know Caparello was clearly beaten by Daniel MacKinnon, do you not think that Kovalev is a good step better than Daniel?Sweet P wrote:Caparello beats Kovalev.

We will see tomorrow morning. And hopefully he gets the win.

Caparello predictably hammered, although he scored a flash knockdown when he stepped on Kovalev's foot while landing a straight left.
Re: Caparello vs Kovalev
Hopefully Caparello rematches Berridge now. The butcher knocks him out in a rematch.

That was predictable.....I wonder what his next move will be?hopefully a rematch with berridge
Re: Caparello vs Kovalev
Credit where credit is due, Blake had a great first round, then, effectively, was stopped by a liver shot. Well done for stepping up and tremendous fortitude shown for even getting up from a tremendous liver punch.
Re: Caparello vs Kovalev
should be praised for having a crack. too many fighters these days refuse to step up and take a risk.
