Floyd or Tyson: biggest dickhead?

Post by Cyclops »

I think a lot of fans now are fond of Tyson. There's a real pathos about him. He genuinely seems damaged and genuinely seems to try and do the right thing and still messes up, but he's quite a humbled figure in a lot of ways despite his past scumbag behaviour. You can also look back on when he was prime and winning and the hairs stand up on the back of your neck he was so exciting.

But...

People keep on comparing Floyd's excesses to Tyson. Before he was humbled Tyson was spending money left right and centre, drowning in hoes that he probably treated like crap and beat up, coked up and probably roided up to the gills, and just like Floyd he was arrogant and a general scumbag.

I'm too young to remember that time, but you read people say they were so happy to see Tyson lose for the first time. I used to not be able to get that, but now I really find Mayweather such a repellent human specimin, such a scumbag, it PAINS me to watch him win. I literally can't stand the guy. I want him to lose. I want him to go broke. I know that's bad and I'm posting this is B&I because I'm not trying to troll Floyd fans I just want to try and figure, if or when Floyd loses and goes broke (he will probably do neither) and is able to present himself in the articulate and reflective way Tyson is now, maybe I wouldn't hate him so much?

What I'm really trying to ask is: who was the more disliked fighter and the bigger dickhead? Floyd as he is now? Or Tyson around about the time he lost?

Floyd. Tyson came up harder and was prob sexually abused.

Plus despite acting a twat, always kind of stayed humble in the sense that he stayed close to 'his' people.

Also, I prefer that Tyson didn't actually care if he was liked or not, floyds needy.

Both massive twats tho, tysons autobiography is painful.

Floyd because he tries to be a dickhead ( and succeeds )

Tyson just does what he does naturally. No pretence or act with him. Floyd tries hard at being a wanker, which makes him a massive wanker.

Floyd is by far the biggest dickhead imo. Tyson always seems like someone who really tries to be a nice decent guy, but never manages it for long - partly due to his upbringing, but probably mainly due to his insecurities.

Floyd just comes across as a complete dick; he has none of Tyson's occasional charm or humility.

Saying that, I was a huge fan of Floyd when he was on his way up - the way he dealt with N'Dou was a truely special performance. I don't remember him coming across particularly badly around that time, so he's either acting up to it now or the success has completely gone to his head.

Floyd is a very tedious, predictable personality.

He walks into a jewellery store - does he buy something original and classy? or does he buy something ostentatious and vulgar, boasting it's price tag ?

He walks into a car showroom - does he buy a exotic factory car as it was intended ? or does he bastardise it with his name, ridiculous alloys and sprays it white with blacked out windows?

He walks into a VIP club, does he take residence in a quiet spot, ordering vintage wines - or does he leap on stage with Cristal champagne , making it rain dollars ?

Does he surround himself with other gifted individuals, furthering himself in other ways? or does he have a gaggle of morons, bag carriers and hollow sluts who cannot count to potato ?

Does he take on the proven, dangerous and red-hot fighter in his weight class? or does he find someone faded, crude, small or largely untested instead where the odds are stacked in his favour ?

A real man doesn't threaten a woman with anything than a good time. But this chicken shit has rained his fists down a few and done jail for it.

The sooner he retires, the better.

Also, Tyson seems like he's naturally quite an intelligent bloke, in that he's well read and fascinated by history and cultural figures. He can talk on a lot of subjects, whereas I'm not even convinced floyd could even talk much about boxing, let alone anything else. He's obv quite thick (as 50 cents pretty much told the world).

Tysons worked hard on trying to shed the iron mike baddest man on the planet image. It worked well in boxing,it doesn't work in everyday life. I like mike nowadays as most people do.

i can never quite understand why anyone would criticise someone else for how they spend their money, 'vulgar' or otherwise.

it's their fvcking money they can do with it what they wish.

Innit. & with quite so many other things to seriously dislike about Floyd, I find it strange this one keeps cropping up.

I'm just wondering how exactly it impacts on anyone else's life to the extent that, you know, it would make them angry, or critical?

I would say anyone's angry, it's more the feeling you get when you can't guide a blue bottle out of an open window.

I think it's less about him spending money, and more about the puerile way he goes on and on and on about it as if it's some sort of super power. The criticisms certainly more about him being irritating that it is jealousy. 'Look, I've got money so can pay for women to hang around with me...' Good one floyd, a real ladies man wouldn't need to. I wonder if fractions of the money team get together when he's not about and rip the back out of him? I bet they do.

What annoys me most about floyd is is inability to just say the word ''boxing''. He always says ''the sport of boxing'' and it drives me mental.

Plus he talks in the third person non stop.

Plus he tries to act gangster all the time, when he's clearly about as gangster as a pork pie.

You think? Tyson comes across as pretty needy to me. I think somebody that truely doesnt care wouldnt of gotten so riled up by that tv host mentioning his rape conviction.

I don't think it's fair to let Tyson off the hook because of his upbringing, obv he had it very tough, but then Floyd was held up by his father in front of drug dealers as a small kid as a shield against gunfire from these dealers.
Most fighters had it tough and you can give plenty of examples of upbringings every bit as bad as Tysons.
He earned stupid amount of millions which he blew, with his talent he was given far more opportunity than almost all, and he wasted it, I have no sympathy.
Floyd may be a knob at times, but has lived the life in the gym, obv he has done some shameful things but he can't compete with Mike.
Most boxers I meet are really nice, decent folk despite not being born with a silver spoon in their mouth. I actually resent Tyson and his like for many average people assuming being a boxer equates to being an unstable lunatic.

Yes but those years have more of an impact on your life, they make you who you are. Tyson is troubled, beyond all the glitz he is now just a man trying to feed the family. He has gave me nothing but joy.

Absolutely. Those are the years your personality are formed. The fact that the story goes Tyson was a stone street badman by the age of 12, robbing and fighting and involved in some serious dark shit, when most of us were just starting to stop playing with Star Wars figures, shows you just what a hard time the guy must have NOT smashing people in the mouth or doing coke. Childhood trauma is no joke. The guy clearly has an anti social personality disorder and it's a wonder he's holding it together these days. I can only assume therapy, age and amazing self discipline. I'm not giving him a free pass but I work with damaged guys like Tyson and I like most of them despite some of the fucked up stuff they do/ have done.

Floyd would be the patient we'd all want to smack in the mouth
