2014 Top 10 P4P "Punching Power" List

Post by Aaronide_ger »

I would Like to see what you guys think about this. Has anyone ever Brought this up?

anyway my list would be:

1.Gennady Golovkin
2.Sergey Kovalev
3.Lucas matthysse
4.Wladimir Klitschko
5.Roman Gonzalez
6.Nicolas Walters
7.Keith Thurman
8.Marcos Maidana
9.David Lemieux
10.Takashi Uchiyama

Dont get Biased and Angry with this list. I became a fan of boxing just 11 months ago. And I have learned many boxers in many categories, But I still Dont know as many as some of you know, so be polite.

(*Didnt include Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua because I wanna see more of them)

Thurman has a fancy looking KO ratio but I think it exaggerates his power, which hasn't looked great to me since he stepped up; he's tended to rely on accumulations of blows and while he's a good puncher I'm not sure if he's top ten in the sport. Maidana is similar in that while I think he's a good puncher he's more of a heavy-handed guy who will wear people down rather than someone with elite power. I also probably wouldn't have Gonzalez so high.

I think Adonis should be in the top ten as well. He's stopped or hurt virtually everyone he's faced and generally hasn't needed to rely on large accumulations of blows to accomplish this. He also flattened each of Dawson and Gonzalez with effectively one punch, and the latter's twitching reaction was scary.

Yamanaka deserves a mention, his straight left is like dynamite. Uchiyama is a good choice though.

As long as Shannon Briggs is active....he needs be put up there. I know he's gotta blown up record but theres no doubt he can punch.

Also Deontay Wilder is a murderous puncher, Nonito Donaire has be put towards the top.

Adonis Stevenson and Randall Bailey belong in there. There have been many top puncher discussions, and Bailey is generally considered pretty close to the most powerful puncher.

For me Wilder has the scariest power,I've yet to see him load up,fighters(not just Scott) seem to crumble at the slightest dig,the way Liakhovich fell freaked me out

For all their obvious flaws, both David Price and Deontay Wilder HAVE to be in any p4p punchers list :TU:
