Joe all the way. Frazier was a tough man, where as i saw Tyson scream like a girl when a cold swell was pressed on his eye. Tyson was a bully, and joe just wouldn't stand for that.

Also, with the exception of a career best punch on Botha, he never came from behind to beat anyone, the complete definition of a front runner. Joe would have made him a 'game quitter'.

I say that as THE BIGGEST Tyson fan ever.

Tyson was not a complete fighter. He couldn't exchange punches on the inside and once an opponent got on top he was deflated. He loved a clinch.

Head says Tyson; heart says Frazier.

Frazier had the edge on stamina, heart & in-fighting, but Tyson was equal to or better in all other departments, but this does not tell the full picture.

Frazier could be a slow starter, whereas Tyson was very quick off the mark & that would be Tyson's only window of opportunity.

If Frazier weathered Tyson's early storm, which I believe he would have done, Tyson would fold mentally & get stopped on his feet in about 9.

Go back and count the "bowling pins" on Tyson's record. His self inflated courage got him a very long ways.

It even helped him breeze past a few that should have been more competitive.

But the better psyches did better against him.

Berbick was a weak psyche, and Tyson ate him up, Tillis, Smith, Ruddock and Tucker not so much.


But Ali's story of self inflation is similar, And honestly with Ali there was a lot more "there" there.


And that did not work all that well against the best of Frazier.

The great Joe Frazier, like the great Evander Holyfield, had more mental toughness than the great Mike Tyson. Smokin' Joe would not be intimidated by Iron Mike not one bit. Frazier by TKO between the 10th and 13th rounds. Tyson could take it some shots? yes, he could take them very well. But I think the accumulation of punches and the relentlessness of Smokin Joe would be too much. Especially, after the 5th round.

Smokin Joe reminds of the greats Julio Cesar Chavez and Vicente Saldivar. They were like a motor. Once the motor gets hot, it took a long time to cool down. As the fight progresses, so did Frazier continues to smoke.

People act as though being blown out when past his prime by a peak Foreman DQs Frazier against every puncher ever born, which I just cant understand at all.

Bad match up for Frazier. Tyson throws harder, faster, more accurate punches, and in his prime had great head movement. He'd get to Frazier early and I don't see Joe simply toughing it out. Tyson inside of 4.

Next to Holyfield and Ali, I see Joe as the 3rd worst style match up for Mike. Either Mike in 5, or more likely,Frazier gets a late stoppage due to relentless pressure rather than a single blow.
