Thurman calling out Khan

Post by KBB »

Keith Thurman is on record saying Amir is highly overrated but yet we have all the people who hate Floyd here saying he (Khan) and Mayweather should fight next. LOL

Why doesn't Khan doesn't mention Thurman ever?

He should be required to fight Thurman and or avenge his losses to Garcia and Peterson before he can even begin to think of taking on the Champion in Mayweather.

Khan has one so-so ish performance vs a limited Alexander and already we have people here saying how much he's improved (other than his balance I don't see much else) and think that he is deserving ahead of other proven Champions or contenders in the Floyd lottery.

Who you got in a Thurman vs Khan fight??

That should be the next fight for Amir.

I think Thurman beats Khan. I can't see the fight going twelve rounds without Thurman landing and when he does Khan will get knocked out he doesn't have the chin to survive against such a big hitter that has the quality that Thurman does.

I think he's the worst opponent out there for Khan.

Why would Thurman want to fight Khan? Khan doesn't have a title.

The fight makes no sense. It's a dumb fight to make for both fighters.

Thurman is hungry, and wanting a chance to prove himself against any of the top guys. For some reason, they don't want to fight him. Khan, Guerrero, Maidana - want nothing to do with him. Risk vs reward.

Does it make less sense than Khan fighting a guy like Alexander, who was dominated by Porter? What would Khan gain from that? Thurman, right now, is the most avoided guy at welterweight. Just because Khan says he is elite doesn't make it so. Khan and Alexander were #9 and #10 on the top welterweight list according to ring. Does beating Alexander put him at the top? Its not common sense we are talking here, it is just plain simple logic.

Khan should have fought Porter if he wanted to get in the position to fight Floyd, or win a rematch with Garcia. He did what he was supposed to do last year by beating Alexander, but the big difference is Alexander was already exposed.

Alexander is better than anyone on Thurman's record.

Thurman has enough power to knockout Khan.
Khan has enough ability to outsmart Thurman.
Right now I'd say Thurman but it's close.

Pretty hilarious how Floydtrolls say, "look over there! Khan is afraid of Thurman." Meanwhile, Khandomeze say, "Thurman hasn't done enough to fight Khan."

Equally amusing are the separate camps claiming that Khan and Thurman are pathetic based on last night's results. Thurman outboxed an undefeated, extremely awkward opponent with a very good chin. Khan boxed brilliantly, staying patient against a high level boxer with a mule's jaw.

Nothing either Thurman or Khan did last night should lead anyone to denigrate their skills, gifts or accomplishments. I would be happy (though mildly shocked) if FMJ gave either a shot in May. Both pose problems for FMJ, though I would favor him over either.

Thurman would destroy khan and many of them welterweights. The only guy he'd get KOd by is Sammy Vasquez

Okay, so then Thurman is wrong, and everyone else is right. Maybe Thurman should shut the f*ck up, since he's the one that's actually overrated. People hype him like they used to hype Brandon Rios and Alfredo Angulo, but he just got done looking very unremarkable against Leonard Bundu.

I certainly wouldn't say that Thurman is pathetic, but I do think he is getting a bit over hyped. If Khan boxed clever, then he beats Thurman for me.

Now is not a good time for them to fight though, there is no reason for Khan to face him. Thurman needs to fight a world level fighter before I am willing to jump on the hype train.

Thurman seems to be in a position where he needs big fights to prove himself, but so far can't get them. He does have something to prove yet, but the same can be said about 98% of the guys at welterweight. So far he has beaten everyone, including knocking the guys out that Khan and Bradley had close fights with. (Diaz and Chavez)

He wants to fight Khan of course, but knows that won't happen any time soon. Realistically he wants Maidana, and to me that is a great fight. Hope it gets done. I am guessing Maidana won't take it though.

You obvously have something against Thurman, because your very first post in this topic was "Thurman is pathetic". Being a Khan nuthugger may have something to do with that...
Alexander is better than Chaves.

I thought he looked great against a very game and tricky opponent who routinely switched from SP to Orthodox and back again, plus Bundu had quick hands and knew how to counter effectively, so what Thurman didn't get the KO he still showed a plethora of boxing skills.

Khan didn't show much against a limited Alexander but about all he showed is that he doesn't have punching power and that anyone can walk through his shots, if and when they fight you got Amir and I'll take Keith for the win.

What would you be willing to bet on Amir vs Keith??

I would!

I don't see anything so special about Alexander, he doesn't do anything different in there at all; very basic. His chin is always straight up and out there to be tagged, he doesn't change levels, doesn't feint, doesn't have a great jab, doesn't have respectable power, doesn't have a great defense, doesn't set traps, allows his opponent to circle him without making their backs touch the ropes.

Bundu is very cagey, he sets traps, counters well, has fast hands, switches constantly from SP to Orthodox and back again, has pretty good defense. I'd love to see a fight between the two of them, I'd put my money on Bundu before I'd put it on Devon.

When it comes to getting a shot at the bigger names in the division does Thurman have the selling power? PBF; Manny; and, in the UK, the likes of Khan and Brook get mainstream column inches but I don't hear about Thurman too much outside of boxing fans.

Thurman should be aiming for someone like Alexander, Guerrero, Porter, Malignaggi or Maidana.

He doesn't really deserve anything bigger at the moment. He needs to build his record and his credibility to get the big fights.

LOL, it's funny that less than a year ago people were saying how this was a garbage fight and how we should boycott the PPV if Mayweather fought him, all of a sudden Khan beats a skill deficient Alexander and now all of a sudden it's the next best thing.

People are as finicky as cats.

Wether or not Khan ,, Thurman , Porter ,, and any one else people care to mention would beat each other is irrelavent There are only 2 out there with any chance of beating Floyd Paccy is one . The subject is done to death on who beats who , and does'nt really matter its the fight everyone wants to see, The other boxer with any sort of chance is Khan , Granted success for him is highly unlikely , he has proved he gets hit hard enough he goes down .

But under his new trainer , and going up in weight he seems to be improving , the only reason this fight holds any interest is Khans speed, its whats needed to beat Floyd and he is just has quick if not quicker than floyd , plus Floyd is not the biggest puncher out there , so all in all , it brings to the table something a Floyd fight with PORTER , tHURMAN , bROOK , ECT ECT , DOES'NT ,, and thats interest and money .

But will we see it , I don't know I would like to see it , but have a sneaky feeling the fact that Khan has the confidence , and the speed to actually go in and try to win , a trainer who can show him how to win may give Khan a slight chance , and a slight chance is all thats needed for Mayweather to decide against losing his 0 .

Then again , KBB has already stated that he knows for a fact that Manny -- Floyd is a done deal . in May , or weas it just pillow talk .

Probably Kell Brook, outside of Pacquiao and Mayweather, that's the biggest money fight out there for him.

Brook is going to be a retirement fight for Khan , Its a big payday in Britain , wether he wins or loses to anyone else , The only chance Brook has of calling and getting that fight on his own terms is if Brook could win the lottery , and land a fight and then defeat Mayweather and become the new Man ,, and we all know thats not going to happen .

Thurman is saying that if you guys think Khan is next in line, let me fight him and show you that he isn't. What's wrong with that?

I think that's actually what boxing needs. Unfortunately, Khan will DUCK Thurman, probably not get the Floyd fight, then take against a light hitting 140/147 pound fighter.
