Lee starts cherry picking

He decided to fight Nielsen recently beaten by D.Chudinov (who was beaten by Korobov in amateurs) instead of fighting his mandatory Saunders or Chudinov or another fighter posing a real threat. Another cherry picking "champion".

I have lost hope...not for boxing...for boxing fans. There are far too many boxing fans who are just silly ass petty mfers who every glass looks half empty to them. I wish you guys would go be annoyed by some other sport.

If Andy can get in a fight before his mandatory at home why not? As long as he gets his mandatory in in an agreed upon time period it seems like a fair play.

Saunders would not come to Dublin, Golovkin is fighting Murray, Haymon girls are not fighting at all and Nielsen is a decently rated fighter. How is this a cherrypick? Who do you want him to fight a King Kong?

Lee deserves to fight who he wants
he got hardly any money for his last fight and deserves a pay day
I will be at his fight and I hope it leads to a stadium fight with bjs

It seems to have been agreed as a compromise to allow Andy a defence in Ireland and a nice payday(250k euros is being reported), before he fights Saunders. It opens up the possibility of that fight being outdoors, either in London or Limerick.

Lee is popular in some circles so will get a pass. I have no problem with it but I can see why some would be disappointed by the quality of opponent.

Lol is anyone demanding a GGG vs Lee fight??? I mean you gotta have some public demand for a fight too. I'd assume there are probably 4 or 5 fights, legitly or arguable makeable, that fans would rather see GGG in over Lee at this point.

And there's 4 or 5 fights I'd rather see Lee in than Golovkin. He signed to fight him last year and Golovkin pulled out after his Dad died, it's not like he has any issue with fighting him, but there's other fights that have to happen first.

Golovkin is aging, he might be out of his prime in 1-2 years, there is no time to waste he has to unify the titles and move up to 168 to face ward.. That is why I want him to face Lee at least in the summer after Lee defeats Saunders.. But he is going to fight another guy now which frustrates me as a GGG fan.. Jermain Tailor also faces another guy which will defend against N'dam which leaves golovkin only hope against COTTO-ALVAREZ winner for a unification in 2015.. BUT if Mayweather-pacman happens I suspect that Cotto-alvarez will fight in the summer.. Which means Golovkin's next 2 opponents in spring and summer are going to be ANYONE ELSE but a titleholder.. so sad but this is the truth.. the only hope for superstardom is Chavez jr.. but he will face Carl Froch and he will most likely lose, so that option is also out..

What’s wrong with an Irishman like Andy Lee wanting to make a voluntary defence of his newly-acquired world title in the capital city of his home country? He’s not breaking any rules, is he?

That being said, I know you’re an extreme Gennady Golovkin fan… and you also cite BoxRec’s rankings, so I’ll give you some food for thought…

Gennady Golovkin made the first defence of his WBA title against Kassim Ouma, who (at the time) was technically rated lower than what Patrick Nielsen is currently rated, coupled with the fact that the Dane has only tasted defeat once, whereas the Ugandan had lost five of his previous seven bouts leading up to the GGG fight.

Even if you don't regard Kassim Ouma as Golovkin's first challenger, Nilson Julio Tapia is rated even lower than the Ugandan.

So I really do think you’re making a mountain out of a mole hill... unless you believe that Gennady Golovkin is merely 'another cherry picking "champion"'.

Anyway, I wouldn’t worry about Andy Lee too much though, because even though I like him, he’s not likely to keep hold of his WBO title for very long.
Well, I you can't see a difference, between current Lee situation and Golovkin's situation in 2010, I can't probably help you.

Golovkin couldn't get good opponents into a ring with him. Money was probably laughable, and he wasn't televised by a major network. Lee could now have almost anybody as his opponent.

Champions who have good choices but select to fight mediocre opposition devalue their titles.

Well then if that is the case then GGG has been disgracing his title this whole time b/c thats all he has faced is mediocre opponents. GGG does not have 1 eye opening win in my eyes. The middle division sucks. GGG needs to quit hiding behind his middle title and move to 168 where the talent is at if he want cash/respect fights. Instead he sits around and calls out the Welterweight Champ.

Golovkin is a middleweight, and not a big one. He does not have to move up before cleaning the MW division. Team GGG did not refuse ONE challenge from a good MW. On the contrary, they have been going after many top fighters who kept hiding.

There are no elite middleweights.....there's nothing to clean out. The only middle was Martinez and he was shot, lookin for a cash out which he got when he fought Cotto. GGG either moves down to 154 to goes up to 168 or GGG and all his fans shut the hell up and about everyone running scared. Ward whips his ass and if GGG can make 154 like Ive been hearing these last few yrs then doesn't he do it. Sounds to me he's running scared.

Using your logic Ward and Froch are running scared, because they don't move up or down. Plain stupid.

Pacquia is not a big welterweight
Mayweather is not a big welterweight
Juan Manuel Marquez is not a big welterweight
Yet everyone expects them to continue to move up.We ask no more of GGG than we do of other
p4p fighters.

Nobody expects Pac or Marquez to move up. Mayweather is #1 p4p and he calls himself TBE, so people expect him to prove that.

floyrd turned pro at like featherweight......GGG cant go up division?? Especially when there is nobody to fight in his division. If he's a small middle then he should move to 154 where talent and money is at.

Also say Ward moves up to 175, and lets say he beats Kovalev.......who does he fight?? Stevensen is damn near 40 and is hiding behind his title. The action is at 168, the division is loaded.
