Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
It seems like the fight will probably happen. Many people have noted Pac's decline, but in the Maidana bouts Floyd didn't look as good as I've been used to seeing him despite clearly deserving each win in my view.
What are your thoughts on who wins?

Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather
Mayweather by decision. I think Manny isn't gonna be able to bring the energy & grittiness Marcos brought in his continuous 12 round onslaught. I also tend to think Manny's "killer instinct" isn't quite what it used to be (hasn't KO'd anyone since 2009) so even if he hurts Floyd I'm not confident in him being able to finish him. Outside of those things I can't see Manny outboxing Floyd when Juan Manuel, the best thinking boxer Manny has fought up til Floyd, gave him so much trouble over several bouts. I wouldn't be shocked if Floyd can catch Manny coming in with those lunges he does & stops him, although I expect a decision.
Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
It is such an intriguing battle. It is probably just as intriguing as it would have been three years ago, although with slightly less quality.
Three years ago when they both looked in their prime, the main question for me was whether Pac Man, although quick, was he quick enough to trouble Floyd? Now, the question for me is whether FMJ is now quick enough to avoid Pacquiao. FMJ doesn't have the one punch power to KO Manny like JMM did.
Mayweather didn't look at his best when he fought Maidana, but was that a case of the crude boxing style of Marcos making it a bad looking fight, or is Floyd finally starting to slow down?
I will go one way and another with this fight, but at the moment I can see it being Pacquiao by a small margin, or a SD/MD.

Mayweather by UD or SD/MD if there is some BS going on with the judging.

Pacquiao by SD
Effective aggression will win it for Pacquiao and he'll walk through Floyd's punches because Floyd doesnt have the guts to throw them with any knockout intent like Marquez or Bradley.
Pacman is going to have Floyd turning at all times and win/steal enough rounds.
No rematch clause (apparently) in this so expect a lot of butthurt for years to come.

Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
Floyd. Its a much easier fight for him now than it would've been a few years back. I always felt Floyd had the edge, but Manny had the engine and speed to out hustle Floyd and maybe steal a close/ controversial decision a few years back, but now I really cant see it. I think both guys are slipping, but Manny is slipping faster. With that type of style the drop off is always more pronounced than with a pure boxing style like Floyd has. Manny of 4 or 5 years ago is a tough nights work for anyone, too many punches, angles and too much speed. Now, he's dangerous, but beatable.... Wish we would've got to see this back around 2010. Its still the #1 and #2 in the division but its not the prime for prime match up we deserved.

agree, Pac will steal the rounds that Cotto and Maidana could not because they simply didnt have the stamina and speed. It will be close, but Floyd isnt for damn sure winning 9 or more rounds.CheckHook wrote:Floyd. Its a much easier fight for him now than it would've been a few years back. Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
Floyd is going to win this rather easily, especially after 4 rounds. Once Mayweather figures out Manny's timing, speed and habits (he has many bad ones) then it is going to be a boxing clinic. Pacquiao is too short just as JMM was, Manny is faster than JMM but he makes too many mistakes. Pacquiao is off balance too much, jumps in which will leave him open for counters and make it easy to time him like JMM did, Floyd' jab will offset all of that jumping in and once Manny gets whacked with a few hard shots he will become reluctant to just bulrush his way in just as Canelo, Mosley and the rest of them did.
There was a reason Oscar stopped coming forward and Manny is going to find out quicker than they did because of him being at a reach disadvantage, he may knock Pacquiao down at least 2 or 3 times before a corner stoppage is imposed but the more likely outcome will be Floyd by an easy UD after the 4th round.

yo kbb....do you thhink floyd will win against pacquiao?
Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
FMJ by stoppage in 6 or less, out of necessity. Pac will impale his prodigious gourd repeatedly on one of the best straight rights in history.
Would love it if Pac proves me wrong and stops FMJ.

Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
Floyd has one stoppage in six years and two stoppages in nine years. Perhaps he fights with more spite than normal due to the circumstances, but I suspect that decision is a more likely method of victory for him than stoppage.
Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
How many stoppages has PAC managed lately? It will end by stoppage one way or the other, because it will be necessary.crusader wrote:Floyd has one stoppage in six years and two stoppages in nine years. Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
Look at his record to find out; my point wasn't about Pac scoring a stoppage.

This fight is going to be a major dud compared to all the foreplay it's received. I foresee an anticlimactic decision win for one of these guys. Not sure which one though.... which is enough of an intrigue for me to tune in.

Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
And if we're being honest here, those stoppages were a bit iffy. Especially the Ortiz one. And Hatton had already shown trouble late at the weight against Collazo. I'd be extremely surprised if Floyd scores a stoppage.crusader wrote:Floyd has one stoppage in six years and two stoppages in nine years. Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
Your "point" is supported by stats and the preponderance of opinion. "My point" is that Pac will make FMJ come out of his comfort zone moreso than SSM did, possibly with a KD, and Floyd will be forced to show his greatness.crusader wrote:Look at his record to find out; my point wasn't about Pac scoring a stoppage.

Floyd's legs are gone, a less extreme version of Pacquiao vs Oscar. Pacquiao 117-110ish.

Been listening to Freddie Roach I take it? I guess you didn't see how he easily moved and boxed vs Maidana? It figuresRicky_ wrote:Floyd's legs are gone, a less extreme version of Pacquiao vs Oscar. Pacquiao 117-110ish.

He sat on the ropes against Cotto & Maidana. His best hope is that Pacquiao has aged more than he has.
Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
The first fight he sat on the ropes against Maidana (he chose to do that, notice the difference between that fight and the 2nd one), against Cotto he didn't sit on the ropes, Miguel is an expert in cutting off the ring and forced him to fight that way.Ricky_ wrote:KBB wrote:Been listening to Freddie Roach I take it? Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
I think the thing that is going to surprise folks the most once the fight begins is that the dynamic in the fight is going to be almost completely in opposition to what most expect.
Mayweather, showing absolutely no sign of the shoulder roll, will stay ring center and/or inch forward behind a high guard.
He will establish distance just outside Pac's reach and make Manny reach or try darting in and out.
And he will slice Pac to ribbons as Manny tries useless offensive flurries.
Straight right counters, jabs to the body and check hooks.
All night.
Until Manny can't continue.
Floyd by stoppage in 10.

Re: Who wins Pacquiao-Mayweather?
I would've confidently predicted Pac from 2008-2010, but his slippage has been more severe than Floyd's given his pressure fighting style. That said, Floyd didn't look good vs Maidana, and Pac hits much harder than Marcos and is much faster.
The big question will be does Floyd hit hard enough to get Manny's respect? If yes, he wins clear decision. If not, I can see Pac landing the harder shots and getting a close decision based on his aggression.
