- Tony Thompson offered to fight him several times, but Fury ignored his requests & chose smaller men.
- Fury was offered a final IBF eliminator vs. Kubrat Pulev, but said no
- Klitschko offered Fury a fight, but Fury's management said "not yet" and so Wladimir fought Wach
- Before Price fought Thompson, he wanted to fight Fury, but was avoided
- Fury pulled out of the fight with Ustinov after seeing Ustinov at the weigh-in
Fury's record is largely against small HWs and cruiserweights like Cunningham, who put him on the floor. Fury had to use dirty, illegal tactics to defeat Cunningham.
Now Fury is fighting a light-punching guy in Hammer, who has some boxing skills but is no real threat at all (never mind how the WBO ranks him, he's not really the third best heavyweight).
Prediction: Fury will avoid Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko, and then say they are ducking him.

Tyson Fury has been matched about the same as the other heavyweights in the top 10.Ricky_ wrote:He's by far the biggest duck in boxing.Freedom2013 wrote:Tyson Fury has avoided anyone who might be a threat.

Agree 100 % with Freedom
fury is a C+ / B level guy. Average power....very very average skills ... dropped by a light hitting cruiser weight...
his biggest wins are over a B level chump (sparring partner) called Chisora .
He will never win against Wilder or Clinchko .
but the Brits just adore him.
(i do enjoy his sht talking though )

Maybe so but his ducks if Price and Ustinov are 2 of the most blatant cowardly ducks I've ever seen from a man too damn terrified to fight a man his own size or that can actually punch. He's an absolute pussy.

I feel he's being moved along too slowly now. Why the hell did he rematch Chisora anyways? The first fight wasn't even close. I always felt he dodged a bullet with Haye, say what you will about David, but IMO he's a class above Fury.
There are plenty of good fights available for him

Price v Fury was being built up as a huge fight later down the road which is commonplace in boxing. It is usually the promoters/managers/handlers that decide. The fighters will fight pretty much anybody. Hardly any fighters themselves will duck anyone.

Agreed.
I couldn't understand why he fought a second fight with Chisora either.
Chisora is just a pudding that upcoming contenders feast on as a gateway to bigger things & he'd already beaten him once.
Fury is extremely fortunate that David Haye has taken up pulling out of upcoming fights as an Olympic Sport for which he has 3 gold medals, because Haye most likely would have decimated him.

Re: Tyson Fury has been carefully matched
I don't dislike fury at all, and Ive been to quite a few of his fights. but we are talking about him fighting Klit this year, and I just don't think he's had a a yard stick for us us to know if he can win.
This isn't a guy billed as 'another heavyweight'', so comparing his oppo with other average heavies isn't the yardstick.
I love his talking and will continue to follow his career, but I'm looking fwd to him having much harder match ups.

He was favourite for all of them.crusader wrote:Don't know about the Chisora fight, but he was the favorite in both McD fights.Rexob wrote:Wasnt he underdog in the mcdermott and the first chisora fight?
For the first McDermott fight I had a decent bet at 8 or 9/1.
Was telling McD just stay on his feet in the last and I would collect.
How naive I was!!!!
Re: Tyson Fury has been carefully matched
Tyson Fury has been carefully matched. But there is precedent for that. When Larry Holmes and Duane Bobick were coming up they didn't fight Jimmy Young, Henry Clark, or Joe Bugner. When Foreman came back and Mike Tyson were on the rise they didn't fight Tim Witherspoon. This is normal and expected. But these guys like Fury still fought good fighters.
It's annoying when someone like Shannon Briggs wants another title shot and Briggs has fought absolutely no one on his return.

Re: Tyson Fury has been carefully matched
Yes he has been carefully matched, saying he would avoid Wilder is laughable though
Wilder's record is non-existant bar a win over the mediocre Stiverne, who he couldn't even stop, and Wilder was beaten up regularly in sparring in the UK. Compared to that Fury looks like a take on all comers.

Lewis,Haye,Povetkin,Tyson,Holyfield,Vitali.
Chagaev was never ripped but i his prime he looked in shape.
Valuev is the only dude i can thinl of in 20 yrs who doesnt look like a athlete.
Tyson Fury is a lazy fornicator, hes no better than Arreola. Tyson is tall and lanky so he hide it better than Arreola.

perhaps this is fury with natural genetics, and completely clean?!?
this is not a statement of what i think is fact, but definitely something worth considering.

He wouldn't fight Wilder. He wouldn't fight Wach. He crapped out of Ustinov. He gave up 2 belts to duck Price & fight Rogan instead.
There's a pattern emerging, if you're the same size as Fury and/or you can punch, he won't fight you. Smaller feather-fisted heavies like Chisora are his Modus Operandi.
Quack quack quack, his packing glass, he got chinned flat on his back against Cunningham, a far smaller man who was barely even a puncher at Cruiser. Quack quack Tyson. The day he fights a Wilder, Thompson or Pulev it's goodnight fatty

You say all this as if you know something. It's all assumption and bird noises with you - you sound like a child.

Believe me, most boxing fans over here think he's an idiot who will lose against Wladimir. His interviews are entertaining I agree.493dart wrote:Agree 100 % with Freedom

Do they? I think he's brilliant entertainment in and outside the ring and only will get better each time he fights.
Re: Tyson Fury has been carefully matched
And your both correct ,, he is a c + b - type of boxer , he has been well managed and he has avoided anyone who can hit back ,, best wins being over a cruiseweight who dropped him , and a over the hill chisora .Rexob wrote:Shambles wrote:Believe me, most boxing fans over here think he's an idiot who will lose against Wladimir. But he is the most entertaining boxer out there especielly in the heavyweight division , and i do like to watch him and listen to his dribble , can he beat klitchhko , can he balls , will he talk himself into a big payday and a shot at the title ,, he certainly will ,, will people pay to watch it , i'm sure they will ,,
Best managed average skilled boxer we have seen for a while , the guys delusional , but thats why i like him , he really believes what he sprouts , and thats what makes it almost believable , , then you sit back and watch his fights , and come down to earth ,
Re: Tyson Fury has been carefully matched
He's fought multiple opponents with good rankings and deserves to be ranked in the top 5 himself in my opinion, but I think it's fair to suggest that his opposition has been well-tailored to his attributes. His stand out wins have been against relatively small HWs (not simply compared to him) without much power and his last two opponents are plodders who tend to just walk straight ahead, which fits Fury's style at this point.
Given who he's been down against and who he's fought I wonder if there are concerns about his chin.

+1 I Think that's fair too, but equally fair of others ranked 2-2000
