Garcia v Peterson
Re: Garcia v Peterson
Lamont is more versatile than Garcia and did as he pleased, if he'd have pressed Danny a couple of rounds earlier he'd have stopped him. Garcia ought to move up, he isn't as effective as he once was, Lamont can come again - he's got a lot of skill.

... and Garcia landed absolutely nothing during that time (with "absolutely" being exaggeration in both cases). We are having the same discussion as after Canelo vs Lara or Provodnikov vs Algieri.jujigatame wrote:I'm flabbergasted that anyone thinks Peterson won this. He had success when he came forward and walked Garcia down, but that was like 20% of the fight. Most of the time was spent with Peterson dancing around doing absolutely nothing.
Re: Garcia v Peterson
Garcia got increasingly frustrated when Peterson moved around, I imagine that was one of the prime considerations.

Re: Garcia v Peterson
Garcia squeaked by 115-113.
How can anyone reward Peterson for those first 4 rounds when he approached the fight like Garcia was some sort of monster puncher?
Don't understand the strategy. Why give away one-third of the fight against a capable champion? Peterson's corner screamed "Frustrate him! Frustrate him!" but how does that translate into scoring points?
During the post-fight interview, Peterson opined that he deserved the decision because he "won the rounds down the stretch and that's what counts."
Oh really? Does he think that he gets bonus points for winning the late rounds, but those early rounds when he was dancing don't count?
Memo to Lamont.....a 10-9 round is a 10-9 round whether it's the Round 1 or Round 12.
No wonder some guys seldom win the big ones.

Re: Garcia v Peterson
Not really. I thought Lara and Provodnikov won. I have no strong preference for the boxer or the come-forward puncher. But movement alone cannot win a fight. Peterson was just not throwing enough to win rounds. He dug himself a very deep hole which his late-round rally was not enough to dig him out of.ikorolev wrote:... and Garcia landed absolutely nothing during that time (with "absolutely" being exaggeration in both cases).
