What's Happening With John Simpson?

Post by Dunstan »

Has he retired?

Was hoping to see him back in the ring (hopefully at Featherweight)

I had been meaning to put a similar post up and you beat me to it. He's not retired. I heard there was supposed to be a show over here in Greenock so I would imagine he'd be on that surely.

Glad to hear he's still fighting and that he's back down to Feather (the Coyle and Murray fights were painful to watch)

I hope he can pick up a few decent paydays.

I hope it's a success but it's a gamble with no previous pro shows being I Greenock for a long time, obviously Simpson is class,Sam ball will make a great pro, grant has the tools to do well and Danny Lee has a few very good amateurs who could turn over and do well. Good luck

Can't believe the guys still planning on fighting at FW,he's a right throwback is Simpson,I love watching him,he's been fairly unlucky throughout his career

I'd love to see him get a shot at the European, lesser fighters than him been maneuvered into winning it,he's done it the hard way,

I think he's aiming at super bantamweight but whether or not he can make it who knows.

Good to see he's getting back in the ring would have been no way to end his career with those 2 stoppage defeats.

I can't see him doing SBW. I'm sure tonight's bout is at SFW but after this I think he'll try and get back down to FW for his next fight.

Fair point Billy the money must have been hard to refuse, but as a long time fan it was sad to see him get hurt like that.

While I'm on a random question for you Billy, does Alex Morrison ever visit/have property in Llandudno, North Wales? I'm pretty sure I saw him today (can't be two people with that face/giant head) drive past me with a giant lawn mower in his boot.

Couple of my mates were there. It's only 5 mins walk along the road from me but was on daddy duty! Got told Simpson looked pretty sharp and in good condition. Won every round. Apparently it was a decent turn out and a good wee show so perhaps they'll be back.

Good stuff. I see his opponent stopped an unbeaten fighter in Britain not long ago and also dropped Jon Slowey recently.

Good show really enjoyed it, John won every round boxed well. Sam Ball looked great, won by ko 2nd round!!! Ryan Collins won a scrappy affair. Grant boxed well punished the boy from start to finish but was loading up to much looking for ko. It was great to see prospects in with guys looking to win Grant and Sam, made the fights really entertaining.

Great venue and the atmosphere was great, all in all a big success. Think boxing will be on in Greenock regular now.

Glad to hear it. I hope to get to the next one. What weight is John hoping to fight at now then? I had heard SBW but I'd be surprised if he could make that. Wouldn't mind seeing him and Warrington in together later in the year!

he weighed in at 9st 2lb not sure but guessing the weigh in was on the day so he will use that as a gauge to see if he can do the extra 2lbs with a day before weigh in.
