Don't think Cotto vs Golovkin will ever happen when I read this :

"I will do what I have to do for the benefit of my career and my family...if the WBC is the one to determine who they think I should face, then simply I'll save myself 3%," stated WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, who made it clear that he's not going to be influenced by the WBC, or anyone else for that matter, and only he will determine what's best for his career.

A week out from the fight and Daniel Geale is 167.5 pounds and Miguel Cotto 163.6 pounds.

Cotto is adamant if Geale doesn't make 157 pounds there will be no fight.

Part of me thinks Geale has the ability to slightly outpoint Cotto over 12 rounds...
Then the other part of me realizes U.S. judges aren't going to let that happen.

So I'd say Cotto wins as Geale certainly isn't going to be knocking him out.

Plenty of cat and mouse going on between Shaw and Roach regarding the catch-weight stipulation for this fight:

Some on here would believe absolutely anything you feed them. :OhYes: 158 a month before the fight. As if that was correct. Some probably still believe the Earth is flat because they read a Ray Weatley article on Fightnews stating that.

Surely the Books can't be wrong.
Geale continues to slide in the betting.

CrownBet Cotto 1.17 Geale 5.00
Ladbrokes Cotto 1.17 Geale 5.00
Palmer Bet Cotto 1.12 Geale 6.10

If Daniel is still 9lb over like was reported in todays press then he has lost me. I cant believe that as a natural middleweight as he claims to be he can let himself get his weight so wrong. On the otherhand he may just be playing funny buggers. Anyone her know the truth?

Cotto will win but I really hope he gets a chance to beat Geale up and knock him out. I don't want to see Geale quit again when the going gets tough.

i think its pretty obvious that geale was doing a trial weigh in a month ago and when they weighed him last week he was at his fight weight or at least close to.

When did he quit?
Mate i gave him the benefit of the doubt against Golovkin but today that was a NO MAS.
To be back on your feet at 3 and not stumbling, not looking at the ref, he just waited for the words " Are you alright " so he could say no.
That is a Quit, which is his choice, he is the best judge on if he should continue and good luck to him. But let's not hear any more of he did
not quit rubbish.

As Micky Duff once said, it takes a certain amount of courage to admit you can't take any more.

Pathetic performance from Geale IMO, once the pressure is on him he folds like a lawn chair and shouts "No Mas!"

Not challenging your comments for one minute, you are entitled to them. Do you think the weight drain (extra 3 lb) played much of a part?

It played no part whatsoever. The fight was only a few rounds old, not a 12 rd war. Geale was just totally out of his depth and decided to quit and accept his paycheck. As others have said very disappointing stuff when fans are coughing up $$$$ for tickets/ppv etc etc.
