Rumour is getting around the traps in Melbourne such proposal had been submitted to Combat Sports Control Board for consideration/approval, citing combatant's safety = falling over the ropes & causing serious injury/death.
Anyone know anything about it?
If by remote chance it gets through, unsure how we (Boxrec) will take to it.
Caged Pro Boxing in Victoria?
Re: Caged Pro Boxing in Victoria?
I am pretty sure the legislation in Victoria would forbid anything other than Mixed Martial Arts from being competed in a "safety enclosure".
Re: Caged Pro Boxing in Victoria?
I recall reading somewhere where Dr Peter Lewis stated he'd like to see MMA caged.
Wasn't this Labor Party's election promise?

Yeah it's been legalised in vic da voice, don't know how the cage with boxing would work but it would still be under the combat sports banner
Re: Caged Pro Boxing in Victoria?
Providing legislation was amended/worded correctly it shouldn't be a problem down the track, unlike liquor licensing (Cabaret licence) in 70's & early 80's, which was full of rat holes allowing operators to take advantage of it e.g. Sunday trading required table service. Whilst they all knew what that means, they played dumb....setup a long table in front of the Bar with 2 attendants who were in turn served by barman.Pureist wrote:Yeah it's been legalised in vic da voice, don't know how the cage with boxing would work but it would still be under the combat sports banner
No way coppas could prove that wasn't table service, so no-one was ever charged
Different story had "table service" been defined"
