Amir Khan's next fight

Post by Badhusker »

Of course Khan is still whining big time about Floyd "ducking him". Moving on, he now seems to think that Pacquiao is a reality in 2016. With Arum suing Haymon, he is a fool to think so.

He has called out Garcia, Peterson, and recently Thurman. Will anyone of the three dare to take on Khan? He also has verbally agreed to fight Brook in 2016, but thinks Brook is ducking and dodging him because he has not immediately responded. He hasn't mentioned Porter or Maidana, who with a similar style will give him nightmares. Up and comer Spence would be good too.

Anyway, who do you think will be Khan's next fight for November or December? (I am guessing Ortiz, Guerrero, or a rematch with Algieri)

My guess is Peterson as he's not a big puncher, not a fully fledged WW and there are no other opponents that are risk free, plus he gets to look like he wants to avenge a loss (even though he's just avoiding better fighters).

Why do you think an Algieri rematch is a possibility?

Would any of these 3 dare take on Khan? what has khan done to deserve fights with those guys? two of them already beat him. Other than open his big yap khan dont deserve nothing after the lackluster performances he has been putting on. Hence why i though it was hilarious at the outrage of mayweather not picking the HIGHLY regarded amir khan. Floyd would take that fool to school.

All three of those guys beat khan. Put khan in front of a puncher like LM shut his yap. Getting so sick of khan, talking how mayweather is a cherry picker when khan has steered clear of any real punchers since getting smashed by garcia who by terms of power is decent but i wouldnt even label him as a puncher. Brook, Garcia, Matthysse, Thurman all KO Khan and I hope one of them is his next fight.

I guess I was a little sarcastic in a couple of comments. Khan won't rematch Algieri, who was very close to beating him. Khan won't rematch Peterson either. Khan won't rematch Maidana, Julio Diaz, or Prescott. He doesn't do rematches against guys that he had worlds of trouble with, or guys that beat him. Talk is cheap, and Khan talks a lot.

Khan recently saying Brook is silent now after he agreed to fight him......a year from now? Funny stuff right there.

Khan has also said he would take on Thurman, after Thurman called him out. Look for that fight to NOT happen.

I expect Khan to sit idle until Pacquaio announces his next fight sometime next year.
It will not surprise me if he sits until May or June waiting for Pac or Floyd. He thinks he is
entitled to get the big money fight.

Hopefully Manny does the right thing and doesn't pick Khan while Khan shelves himself for another year waiting for a phone call and then maybe he will realize he will have to grow some balls and do something to earn the big money fight

Khans plan has been to retire by 30. Fighting Floyd or Pac is his goal, win or lose so he can say he was competitive against the best and no need to fight anyone else below him, Pac, and Floyd.....so he thinks.
Not getting to fight Floyd or manny will force him to fight the top guys, and totally screw up his plans.

i think khan will be quiet till next year.then pick a warm up fight, before manny pacquiao ,big money fight. just hope it don't go the same way of the khan fight with Marco Antonio Barrera
. That will just show you what he is all about , the most exciting division in boxing , and he has fought 1 person of anyone of note in 3 years Alexander, made for him.

I don't understand Khan's sense of entitlement. Why does he believe he is entitled to the big dollar
fights?

Khan already fought Maidana. He's probably looking to fight someone that he hasn't already fought.

Khan is actually entitled to big dollar fights. Despite his lack of elite ranking, he makes more money from boxing than Timothy Bradley, Keith Thurman, Kell Brook, Danny Garcia, Juan Manuel Marquez, Saul Alvarez, etc.. Amir Khan is a big draw, whether you understand that or not. It means that Khan has built-up his brand so big that Mayweather or Pacquiao would make more money from fighting Khan than they would make from fighting someone like Thurman, Brook, Garcia, Berto, etc.. In summary, Khan's belief that he is a logical choice of opponent for Mayweather or Pacquiao is rooted in actual facts.

You make some good points about the money he probably makes, with the exception of maybe Canelo. Khan is a very good boxer with exceptional hand speed. Being an admitted hater of Khan, he does have skills, but comes up short in some categories too. Imagine if he was fighting Mayweather instead of Algieri his last fight? He looked confused and lost at times.
If it wasn't for him flapping his jaws 24/7, he probably would have gotten the fight. If he would have not ducked Alexander at the time he was lined up to fight him, he would have gotten the fight. (He was a year too late, and after Porter exposed him.) If he would have done what he claimed he has done, like establish himself as a top welter by beating top ranked guys, he would have gotten the fight.
Instead he fights Julio Diaz at a catchweight, and many including myself thought he lost that fight. Alexander was still a good win, but should have been a starting point and went up from there. Instead he takes on a semi-shot Collazo that has less of a KO% than himself, with no big wins for years, then to top it off light welter Algieri, who was coming off a one-sided beatdown by Pacquiao. Khan was very close to losing that fight too. ("You are only as good as your last fight")
Now, he is still running his mouth about the Floyd fight, saying Floyd is a liar and scared. Saying he gave Maidana a beating, etc. Khan is his own worst enemy. Sorry, but guys like Diaz, Alexander, Collazo, and Algieri don't equal top tier welterweight competition, like Bradley, Brook, Porter, or Thurman.
